I am always looking for rank structures to use in games. It is my hope that you will share some of your historical knowledge or ranks and/or reveal to us the hierarchy of ranks in the games that you play.

A long forgotten and abandoned mine has been recently rediscovered by a local village.

The land of Vartanadel is full of twisted and fabricated truths. To stay in power, one must play the game.

A very ornate and very old looking spell book. Chock full of spells, most of which are unreadable by any magic user. The ones that can be read, unfortunately, don't have the affect the mage is looking for.

The players unknowingly awaken an ancient army. Viewable by all, yet unseen by the players, people flee in fear of the marching army of spirits on the path to a major walled city. On arriving at the city the players cannot figure out why the gates are closed, the towers are manned and on the defensive - from them...

The job of a lifetime. The King's very own Security Advisor has redesigned the security of the armoury and has chosen the PC's to give it a test run. If they break in and out, they will win much respect. If they fail, then they simply prove the armoury security is unbreakable. Can't lose, until after the 'test' break-in the armoury really is broken into and the most valuable weapons of the kingdom are now missing...and the PC's are the prime suspects.

A weapon with multiple personalities. Always a chance you can get the one you want, always a chance you won’t. Once drawn will you be able to wield it? Will you be able to use the powers and knowledge or will you be swept away by the needs and wants of this intelligent item?

On the outskirts of a poor looking village is a large mausoleum that is well kept and richly deserted. It has a marble walkway and bricked windows with beautiful ironwork adorning it. For grave robbers the look of the outside tells of untold riches on the inside.

The entire city is in an uproar. Two factions proudly identify themselves to each other by wearing red or white scarves or handkerchiefs on their bodies in plain site, or hanging them from their place of business identifying themselves and their belief. Apparently a very respected high priest of the local religion has recently disappeared and so has the entire church coffers leaving it penniless. A city divided on the possible guilt of the missing.

A substance, born of the cold and adapted to the warmth of the human world. Its natural state is a mercury type liquid but when held in frozen conditions the wielder may will it to take any form desired. Their only limit is the amount of liquid they have.

Awhile ago I started a small list of random villages...I think many turned out to be plots, but thought I would throw them out here for fun.

Rome. It was defined by its Glories and its Horrors. What were its military's ranks.

In time long past the Citadel was new and innocent. As the years went on much was added to include the ability to vote and comment. Ever since then there has been prosperous periods where the votes and comments were just a tool and the Horde was happy. But subtle battles raged, sides were taken and votes were interpreted as acts of aggression. Much dread and drama followed these battles and authors were lost. So was birthed the Law of the Hammer.

Two adventurers retiring in their prime, or are they really retiring? Set themselves up as proprietors of a Weapnsmithe and a Tavern but still have there fingers deep on the pulse of adventure.

Made for a wealthy carpenter to ease his workload, those that have it can find other uses for it. Used to cut perfect holes in wood or create wood doll rods.

Needed-An ethical character with a long history of promiscuity and/or, preferably, a past love relationship.

While in a deep forest a fairy will take a liking to one of the players.
