Historically, most tombs known to have grave goods in them were robbed soon after the dead person was laid to rest. So why has the tomb that your group of adventurers broken into not already suffered this fate?
It is not considered a crime if a ship's crew mutinies against a captain that is obviously unfit for the post (dangerously incompetent, insane, or overly cruel). Assuming, of course, that they can prove it.
