Part 1 of a Shadowrun novel, I wrote a few months back, that I decided to place up here for public enjoyment, and commentary, after yet another rejection letter for dead tree publication.

This novel is Rated R for graphic violence, adult situations, and general all around Cyberpunk goodness.

GM's and players may find it useful for character concepts/backgrounds and adventure ideas, enjoy, more to follow every week.

(A character for the Warhammer Fantasy rpg setting, but can be easily adapted to any fantasy setting.)

Similar to threads I've seen on other rpg sites, this is a collection of things I or others in my group have learned while role-playing. Feel free to add to the scroll with your memorable experiences at the table.

(A simple plug in side-quest with a twist, that is left a little generalized to fit in with any fantasy campaign with minimal prep work by a gm.)

In the darkness you notice a point of light erupt no bigger than a candle, quickly followed by several dozen more and a soft metallic sound, like a man at the dinner table sharpening his knife against a fork.

"Living in a town that sits on a dimensional nexus can wear thin after a while. It's not so much the crawling shadows, bizarre weather, or late night visitors from places that never existed; but carrying on with your normal life and trying to act like nothing out of the ordinary is going on in your little corner of the world that gets to you."

A small rural town with surreal secrets, that happens to be situated on a dimensional crossroads, suitable for modern day supernatural/mystical/horror campaigns.

They say you give up a few things, chasing a dream. In those mists that's the literal truth, for every dream of yours that comes true, a piece of yourself, mind, body, or soul, gets taken by the mist. Worst part is, you won't even know what the cost of your dreams are until you go to leave, and by then you might not even have a mind left to change...

Admirals, I present to you the future of space warfare! No longer will you need to waste billions of credits on costly space battles, and millions of lives on planetary warfare with hostile cultures. For only a fraction of the cost of a heavy cruiser, I present you with a weapon capable of eliminating an entire solar system. "I present the Star Hammer!"

Cramped crawl spaces, virtually all starships have them, and usually most players ignore them. Unless a nasty alien gets loose inside the ship, even many Gms don't give them a second thought..

Here are 30 other issues that could require some crawl space access and provide an interesting sub plot.

The Diary of young girl who finds herself trapped in purgatory, searching salvation and trying to make sense of that which is deliberatly insane. (A prelude to the entry found in my Chasers submission.)

Ideally the creatures described within this (ongoing) sub will be detailed in turn as their own seperate submissions eventally painting a complete picture of purgatoy.

You hear a loud electronic buzzing, almost as if a runaway lawn mower mated to a taser gun is rampaging through the slimy cattails and weeds towards you before a swarm of huge flies erupt from the low scrub in front of you, electricity dancing between their mandibles.

"Ye thought the orbital penitentiary around Venus was hard ta endure? That place is a vacation spot compared to Davy's Lockdown! If the guard borgs can't find an excuse ta peel the skin off yer bones and the inmates don't use ya for their bettin pool, the pressures o' bein that far beneath the waves will drive ya to the brink, mark my words!"

An underwater prison with a dark past, suitable for any sci-fi, neo-dystopian, or cyber punk setting.

A collection of 30 bardic tales you may hear sung in the local tavern or empresses' court, complete with bardic verse excerpts from all 30 tales themselves.

Many of these tales can also be used as quick plug in adventures for Gm's looking for a side quest. (And let the players exploits be turned into the song by a near by bard perhaps?)

A city location with a slight horror slant, suitable for any modern day horror/action setting.

A college campus for modern day settings, where things are more than they seem at first glance. (Good for a horror or mystery setting)

Sometimes life as you know it has to nearly end for you to find your true calling. By "end" I mean the everything you knew, loved, and held dear ripped away, your life torn down to the bloody roots and dragged over broken glass until the future yawns like a great big empty pit that threatens to swallow you whole type of ending.

The new you, the one that's left after such a sundering, is someone the old you would probably put a bullet in the brain pan of out of sheer mercy. Problem is, the old you is no longer around, and the new you likely doesn't have anyone left that cares enough to administer that hollow point piece of mercy.

An ex-cop vigilante, suitable for modern day supernatural horror settings.

A small village situated near a medium lake,with inhabitants and history that is more unique than one might expect. Suitable for any fantasy/low tech setting.

In the middle of summer a small town is beset by a blizzard that enshrouds it in a blanket of snow.­ The cause is unknown and all contact with the town is lost.­ The player characters are hired to investigate the town and put a stop to the blizzard if at all possible.

(An adventure written in the more rigid and hand holding 'old school' style and quality level of original fantasy adventure modules from the early to mid 1980's)
