Full Item Description
The basis of the weapon is a bladed ring, approximatrely 12” (30cm) in diameter and 1” (3cm) thick. There is a handle area, wrapped in cloth or leather, with a inset guard with a crescent cross piece. Off the bladed ring are short sharp blades (4” - 10cm), like the wiggly rays of the sun of a child’s drawing.
History
The weapon was created to incorporate the elements of wind and fire into a fighting weapon. The blades allows for a variety of “swooshing” swinging motions, as well as punching/ shabbing motions (enhanced by a martial art- fire). They are supposedly throwable, but that requires a very special skill to do. The weapon was designed to enhance certain Chinese martial arts manuvers, allowing for weapons blocks and more enhanced damage. There are a few stories about their origins, but the most substantiated ones come from T’ai Chi Ch’uan.

Unless you are careless and bring the weapon to closed to your body while using them, there isn't away to cut yourself while holding them.. as the handles are in the middle of the circle.
