The Ring of the Tovars

By: CaptainPenguin

The tribes of the Tovars held the Strait of Korstangz for 500 years against attack, dominating from their impenetrable stronghold. This same stronghold, now abandoned, has become a death-trap for adventurers known as the Ring of the Tovars

Many hundreds of miles downcoast to the south and east of the imperial city of Kadessa, past the vast marshes at the Porleep Delta and the mountainous region of the Murderous Towns, two peninsulas reach toward each other, closing their arms around the belly of the Sea of Arms, and creating the long, island-filled Strait of Kortstangz, a sea corridor which connects the Sea of Arms with the Liar’s Ocean.

On the northern mouth of this strait, where the Sea of Arms flows in, there sits the Ring of the Tovars. It is a mighty, yet decrepit, pile, a vast stone bulwark in a roughly circular shape, hunched against the chill seawinds atop a thin island just offshore.

A continent is home to large, leathery flying beasts with a wingspan of over 70ft. Though shy, herbivorous and easily scared, it is possible that an enterprising person could domesticate them. They would be useless in war due to their timidity, but excellent if used for commercial air travel.
