Legacy of the Pharaohs

Ancient Egypt, Land of the Pharaohs:  What will you find among the eternal sands?

The people of Ancient Egypt built a civilization that defies the ages. The birthplace of much that Western culture takes for granted, Egypt’s history and legends still inspire tales of adventure and mystery.

As an alternative to the standard Tolkien-inspired fantasy, adventurers may travel to a land of burning sands and mighty enchantments, where the river’s annual floods bring new life and the tombs of Pharaohs dominate the landscape.  A land where myriad local gods claim worshippers and the mighty god of the sun is honored with brightly-adorned temples.

This collection is intended to provide game masters with resources that have an “Egyptian” flavor, submissions reminiscent of the Land of the Nile.

Egypt is a great source of material. If you are interested in gaming in Egypt, the only useful game suppliment I have found is GURPS Egypt. Even if you don't know GURPs the source material is useful to you in setting up a game. (And GURPS LITE is like 8 pages and a totally free pdf.. so you can get the rules if you want to understand them).

I was in a game with a GM that had a Masters in History, who made is a point to mention that the local peasants didn't have wheelbarrows. The rest of the players just shrugged that off but I knew that the GM was trying to tell us the peasants were on the knife edge of starvation. All that from wheelbarrows? Yes, because before the invention of the wheelbarrow it took two men to carry that load. In it's time the wheelbarrow was the most explosive production multiplier that the peasantry could get their hands on. This is worth two tips: One about the power of the Wheelbarrow and the other is the moral of the story...that people need to know the point you are trying to make.
