Cowl of False Reputation

Ever wish you looked a little tougher than you actually are? Well, the Cowl of False Reputation has you covered.

A cowl with a flowing cape. Can be made of any material but only comes in gray, black and red.

Magical Properties:

When you pull the cowl over your head, you instantly take on a more menacing, tougher facade. Anyone looking at you gets a vague feeling that they’ve seen or heard of you from somewhere, but they’re not sure where. All they know for sure is you’re not someone to be messed with. Works well in those tougher pubs, not so well with the town guard.

Nice one! I can see why a weak, nerdy wizard might want to invent one of these... :) I love the idea of the effect it might have on the city guard. Imagine trying to get through customs unchecked wearing this!

I agree with Manfred, long have I missed this. It is far to simple to rate much higher than I have but I gave it a +.5 for being original, somewhat. Good job.

The players see a small shrine to the local nature deity just of the trail. Before they even approach it, they can smell the foul stench of rotting meat. If they inspect the shrine, they can see it has been desecrated by rotting organs in the last few days. There is no mistaking it for an obscure ritual, the organs are thrown everywhere, not left in specific places as in sacrifice. If the players try to clean the shrine, they will soon find it has been boobytrapped to fling sharp splinters covered in the rotting gore in every direction. While only doing a few points of damage, they injured players will likely take sick soon unless they get medical attention.
