"You find yourself in a vast temple filled with terrifying carvings."
Shaolangan religious art is deemed to be some of the most graphic and terrifying art known in the world. Their temples are filled with hideous frescoes depicting their goddess subjected to horrific methods of torture and cruelty.
The calm and peaceful Shaolang believe that their goddess suffers for them and all mankind at the hand of demonic tormentors in the underworld. The more she suffers, the better the world is. Shaolang monks also self-harm in imitation of their goddess.
Needless to say, the religion is widely misunderstood.

Our Lady of Endless Suffering, I think this is fantastic, and very easily misunderstood.

Some countries might ban it.

I think this a perfect jump for a religion. I am also impressed that you added bit of mystery in even such a sparse post. We get one impression, then another and then a 3rd all in 100 words. Well done.

Very nice idea! Quite believable and, as axlerowes pointed out, we get everything we need to know in 100 words.

Very nice, and slightly 'deeper' than it seems at first. Great example of the power of a few words! After reading the second sentence I'm hooked and my 'sense-of-wonder gland' tingles.
