Riding Crop of Command

By:

“He looks so regal in his riding gear, carrying his riding crop.”  “He looks good without it. He always carries his crop too. He just loves riding.”

Full Item Description
A normal black riding crop with some red thread woven into the handle, making it distinctive and quite handsome.

Magic/Cursed Properties
The item only works when being tucked under the arm, or in hand. It is primarily an object for men. When a man holding it, he seems more handsome than he is. Everyone feels his commanding presence and in many cases feels slightly inferior to him. This gives him an edge in dealing with people. Sometimes the weak willed or those of low self esteem will automatically follow his commands.

This feeling translates into pluses to charisma related abilities and skills, as everyone feels slightly inferior to him (minor minuses to charm or mind control to a spell saves against him if holding the crop). if the crop is used in the command (like “sit”, swatting the chair or the person), then additional bonuses are added.

History
This is a cunning item. It is uncommon, even in the magic teachings of the Evil Cults. Some trades souls for it, others learn the spells related to it. The form might vary some, but it is always an item of direction (a maestro’s baton, a lion tamer’s whip, etc).

Note
If a female finds the crop in her regular possession, a few things occur.  She initially appears more beautiful because of her commanding presence.  That illusion slowly wears off as she who wields it becomes overly dominating, excessively loud and demanding, and more forward than is socially acceptable. With continued usage, she will physically change.. getting more athletic, but taking on more handsome, than beautiful look.  Of course, the commanding presence grants all the bonuses it does to a man.

Lol. It's a cute idea. I don't see how it should be so much better for a man than a woman, but that's the authors' prerogative. (I think men can be offensive in the same ways as women if they appear to controlling, but I do understand your point about what society accepts... of course that depends on the society.) I suppose it depends on the subject.

Another piece of equipment that would be useful for your stylish Evil person. And after the good guys off them, it would be just another piece of junk sold at the estate sale.

An interesting form of a practical item, but I too have to wonder why it's masculine oriented. It's perfectly fine that it is, but I'd like some sort of history or explanation.

This should be compiled with other mature items, like the "Vampiric Panties" for easier reference access. :)

Really not a codex I would put my name to.  It would be Torture Devices and Techniques all over again.

For Alchemist above...
The system won't let me look at the previous PM post)

This is part of the "Garage Sale from Hell" Codex.  Thus it is all about magical items owned by an Evil Cultist (whom nobody knows is an Evil Cultist) who dies, and all their items are sold in an garage/ estate sale

This item does not much history or explanation because 1) it is part of that codex and 2) it is a "common enchantment", with the knowledge of how to make such items, passed around among the Evil Cultist community. (In this case, it is part spell, part demonic deal)   Much the same way nobody discusses the origin of the common enchantment +1 weapon, no detailed explanation was needed.

This item was made for a male Evil Cultist.  You could reverse the genders of it quite easily.

Order of the Moonbeard

       By: valadaar

Among the assortment of organized criminals who live in the great city, few command greater fear the Moonbeard Order.

They of course do not call themselves that, but have earned the moniker from their fashion of dying their large beards with lye to produce a distinctive crescent shape running from earlobe to earlobe. This is meant as a taunt for their enemies, for it clearly outlines their throats.

They also wear garb similar to the northern tribesman, carefully tooled leather and showing multiple, colourful glyphs.

They are feared due to the intense discipline that their group maintains, due to their origins as a warrior-sect.

They serve as paid thugs, enforcers and assassins within the city, with the client simply ordering a service from the organization, not hiring an individual. Apart from making the request and providing payment in full in advance, the order completes the assignment themselves.

Their order has many moles through the organizations of the city, and more than a couple of nobles. As such, no organized move has been made against them since their chief activity is directed against other members of the crime world. It is said that their services have been useful for those in power as well, further protecting them from persecution.

Their religion holds that their time in this world is vanishingly brief, and largely unimportant except as training for the Great Battle.

The order is very utilitarian with weapons choice - they simply use the tool needed for the occasion, though not without having trained extensively with it beforehand. Daggers, garrottes, swords, bows, battle axes, polearms, wagons, even siege engines have been used to carry out their contracts.
