Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth Project: MOBILE TOTEM Secure Forum Thread: Subject Selection Bias.

OP by Starboy97: I have some concerns regarding the project. I think we should diversify the test subject pool a bit. The fact that we are using Dark Elves exclusively right now really reflects badly on both the Biomancers and Technomancers. It might cause some controversy among the other populations.

RangerBowman13: We would, but so far no other species of elf has passed the medical evaluation.

Starboy97: I understand, but it just feels wrong targeting a specific species of Elf for this project.

HaroldKaelthas: We are exploring all the species of elves on Middle Earth for viability. And just what kind of controversy do you think this will create???

Starboy97: Well, the Dark Elves are known to be very homogeneous species culturally. They might raise a stink over it and protest.

Biopunk89: This is only the first batch of subjects we are talking about. And those have all been transferred to ALPHA-1. There are no Dark Elves anywhere near the region ALPHA-1 is located at. The second batch is going to remain at UMBRA-6 and there is a lack of them there too. The largest known enclaves of Dark Elves are near GAMMA-3 and DELTA-4.

ElvenLady9K: If you are trying to troll this forum Starboy, it will not work. The Dark Elves near those two places know about this project and they have been sending us their problematic individuals to us willingly. If you are thinking that the Guild of Biomancers or Technomancers is actively capturing them for this project, this is absolutely untrue.

Starboy97: I'm not bring a troll!!!

HaroldKaelthas: Yes, you are. Also, no one cares about the fate of Dark Elf criminals. It's better then leaving them to rot in a dungeon that's for sure.

AdminAethieal: I am locking this thread because things are getting heated.

Subject: MOBILE TOTEM Subjects

Hey, just got the first batch of test subjects you promised us. Three of them are current on a Recon Mission to a nearby Orc Horde. Another three are testing out a new Stealth Module. Another three are being trained to use a new Scoped Bow that we are developing.

However, one of them, Subject No. MTDE-0010 has been malfunctioning. It is constantly complaining about human rights violations and discrimination even though nothing of the sort happening to it as far as we know. We sent it on a courier job to deliver a new Hardware Security Module to EPSILON-5's Command and Control Center but it has suffered considerable damage on the way back. Thankfully the armor around the head prevented it from being destroyed.

Can you ask the Guild of Biomancers about this as I don't have the clearance to contact them regarding Project: MOBILE TOTEM.

Subject: MOBILE TOTEM warning.

Hello, Orkrest relayed your message to me.

There is a group of humans in a small town close to the EPSILON-5 C&C Facility that have taken serious umbridge with idea of "Mechanical Knife-Ears". I would avoid that town from here on out as there is nothing we can do about this. I am glad to hear that the advanced armor protected the subject from critical damage though. We will add this to the research logs.

Keep in mind that the subject retains the same memories and experience it had before augmentation. So what you observed was probably not a malfunction. Though if the so-called "human rights violations" it is referring to is the MOBILE TOTEM Project itself, then this is concerning. The last thing we need is those Dark Elves starting a riot.

If this is going to be a problem, the MOBILE TOTEM project will have to be moved to our Research Lab Hydra Facility which is located in a more remote region of Middle Earth. We do not want those Dark Elves attacking UMBRA-6 over something we cannot control. Research Lab Hydra is harder to find and will definitely be more secure against civilian rioters due to its obscure location.
