1-Classic Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. A very happy Genie, for you have freed it from it's imprisonment. So happy in fact, that it grants you three wishes with it's powerful magic. Choose wisely.

2-Ungrateful Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. Who looks you up and down with a face contorted with rage, draws a magical scimitar and attacks you, clearly intending to end your life. If you have no magical weapon of your own and cannot fight it with spells, RUN! If you do manage to kill the Genie, it vanishes in a puff of smoke leaving it's magical scimitar behind. Congratulations, at least you got a magical weapon out of it.

3-I'm Busy

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. In a smart suit. Who looks you up and down and tells you he is busy in a conference with demons and would you rub the lamp again next Friday if you want to talk to him, then turns around and vanishes back into the lamp. Summoning him again before next Friday makes him warn you to go away and vanish once more, doing it a third time before the due date makes him so angry that he tries to kill you like the Genie from #2.

4-Crazy Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie.Which starts burbling softly, making animal noises and playing with it's bottom lip. Sadly it's long imprisonment within the lamp has turned it insane. Speaking gently to it means it will shy away, whilst demanding things from it either makes it flee from you or try to kill you like the Genie from #2.

5-Weak Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a sadly far from powerful Genie. It's ages spent imprisoned in the lamp have greatly weakened it and although it is almost pathetically grateful to be freed and grants you three wishes, they are small things like healing cuts and the like. It no longer has the magical power of old.

6-Stone Age War Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a Genie clad in animal skins and bear tooth jewelery like a caveman. It gestures at you, smiles, then shimmers and vanishes. And it is then that you discover that your sword is a sharp but short flint knife and your armour and clothing have been replaced with the animal skins of a caveman. The Genie was a spirt of war that was imprisoned many thousands of years ago in the Stone Age;and it thinks it still is the Stone Age. So it has given you as a present the latest weapons and clothing...the latest Stone Age weapons and clothing, that is. Sadly, your metal weapons, armour, modern clothing, any tech you possess, are now gone.

7-Mercenary Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. When you ask him for three wishes, he tells you that he does not give out wishes for free. If you want his help, you have to pay him either in cold hard cash or in magical items, and for anything big his prices range from steep to astronomical. If you don't have enough money to pay him, he teleports away with a loud pop, leaving a foul smell of brimstone behind.

8-Empty Lamp

You rub the lamp, and nothing happens. If this lamp ever had a genie within it, the genie is long gone. You might be able to sell the lamp for a gold piece at a junk shop, though.

9-Poison Gas!

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie, who seems friendly enough. Unfortunatly the gas he is made of is hydrogen cyanide, highly poisonous to human lungs and unless you have a way to protect yourself from the fumes you may well choke to death before you can ask for any wishes, more so if you are in an enclosed space.

10-Ha Ha, very funny

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a pair of...blue jeans, with an E in red thread sewn onto the left trouser leg. Clearly some wizard's idea of a hilarious joke.

11-I can't understand you

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. When you try to speak to it, you quickly find that the language it it speaks has been dead for centuries. If you have something like a Potion of Mis Understanding Languages or a Translator of Political Corectness you can ask it for help and it will help you within reason, otherwise it teleports away without either helping or harming you.

12-Just no

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. Who point blank refuses to grant you any wishes as it says humans allways ask for ridiculous things when wishes are granted, and besides, it says it has other things to do then help you like some lowly imp.

13-Trapped!

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and covers you, then...pulls you into the lamp! The inside of the lamp resembles a comfy room with a nice bed , and inside it you will neither age nor need to go to the toilet. But there is not much light in there, and you can't get out. You are stuck in there until somebody else rubs the lamp and takes your place. If you found the lamp all alone in the willderness, it could be a long wait until you get out. Hopefully you have a torch and some books with you.

14-Three Wishes

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. Clearly angry at being disturbed, and towering over you, the genie demands that you grant him three wishes. They will not be ones that are impossible for you to grant. If you refuse and certainly if you tell the Genie that it should grant you wishes and not the other way around, it will become furious and try to kill you like the Genie from #2.

15-Riddling Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. Who is willing to help you if you play a riddle game with it. The bigger a favour you want from it, the harder the riddle, and failure will mean it teleports out of sight without giving you any help at all.

16-Lady Jeanie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a human girl named Jeanie, who was kiddnapped from her noble family and imprisoned in the lamp in the hope of a ransom for her safe return. She knows no magic, but if you can get her back alive to her family you will get a reward for rescuing her and foiling her kiddnappers.

17-Gin Bottle

You rub the lamp. Nothing comes out until you tip it slightly, and a stream of gin flows out of the lamp. If you were sold it for a lot of money as a Jinn lamp with a jinn in it, you have been well and truely swindled. The only spirit in this lamp is alcohol.

18-Cupid Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty female Genie. Who blows you a kiss, shimmers and vanishes leaving a well-labeled powerful love potion behind for you to drug some future target with to make him or her fall headlong in love with you.

19-Smoky Lamp

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and goes on until you are choking and coughing, and then stops. There is no genie, just a magical booby trap, the equvilent of a smoke bomb.

20-The Devil

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a human, or so it seems, but he has hooves instead of feet and there is a faint smell of brimstone around him. What you have in fact done is summon a high ranking demon. He will offer to help you, but be very careful if you accept such help as your immortal soul is on the line.

21-Urn Beast

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and turns into a fireball, that attacks you and tries to burn you to death. You have disturbed an Urn Beast , the tortured spirit of somebody cremated very much against their will. Weapons, even magical ones, pass straight through it. Water will hurt it, but not kill it for good. If it attacks your mouth, and you swallow any of it, your body will be possessed and your mind will become a passenger in your body. There are ways to deal with it, but they are not easy. The only way to get rid of it once and for all is to provide a dead human body, which it will enter, and then to bury the body.

22-An Element

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and turns into one of the Mendeleevian Elementals Exactly which one it is, how friendly it is, and if it is capable of helping the PCs depends on the GM. It might be a reactive, highly flammable Oxygen Elemental, or a very poisonous and dangerous Chlorine Elemental (in which case it is most likely to attack the PCs) a radioactive Uranium Elemental or one of several more.

23-Friendly Skies

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. He won't grant you wishes, but he is so happy to be free that he gives you an enchanted Flying Carpet and shows you the basics of how to fly it before he teleports out of sight. Now you and your friends can fly.

24-That's Entertainment

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. Before he vanishes from sight, he casts a spell and suddenly you and your friends all know how to sing, dance and skillfully entertain people. You can get well paid jobs in show business if you want to, or use your new-found skills to infiltrate a castle or any sort of party with ease.

25-The Joker

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. Who laughs, vanishes and then plays ever nastier jokes on you and your friends, ranging from buckets of water on doors to potentialy deadly traps.

26-The Healer

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. Who with a spell heals any wounds, diseases and curses you and those with you are suffering from before teleporting out of sight.

27-Chaotic Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. Who casts a spell before vanishing and, be you inside or outside it starts raining for several minuites. Chocolate rain. The rain is not dangerous or poisonous, but it is very messy and sticky. Not good if you are a long way from a bath.

28-Swordsman Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. Who as a reward for setting him free gives you a magical sword before vanishing. In game terms, roll a D6 to see what weapon you have been given.

DI-Feeling Sword Owch. You just got given a cursed weapon. But at least it is magical and so can harm beings that are only harmed by magical weapons. A pity that it hurts you too when you use it.

D2-The Tone Deaf Sword Not cursed, but it sings and loves the sound of it's own voice, and most people hate the sound of it's singing.

D3-The Sword of Fire A handy weapon, but it won't last all that long in prolonged combat. Better then a cursed weapon though and your eardrums are safe too.

D4-The Sword of Fear If you use the magic in this you can be the most feared person in the area for a time, but don't use it too much or you'll end up scared of your own shadow.

D5-Brumborion's Sword You were lucky, you were just given a powerful magical sword of ice.

D6- Sword of the Ocean A mighty blade with Godly power, powered by the evil god Ma-O. Best used for maximum power on the High Seas though, or near a river or lake.

29-Minimite Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a small puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a tiny Genie. Who grants you three wishes but his power is as small as his size so the wishes cannot be too big.

30-Trickster Genie

You rub the lamp. There is a hissing sound and a puff of gasses erupts from it and solidifies into a mighty Genie. Who is willing to grant you three wishes, but beware! He twists your words and those of your friends. If for example you want to meet a certain princess that you need to meet in the game, he uses magic to turn one of the PCs into an exact double of the princess down to her clothing and every mark on her body, with only the mind of the PC unchanged. If a PC wishes for riches, then the kingdom's royal jewels get magiced to his or her location. Although worth a lot, not even the Thieves Guild will touch them and the army police is on full alert looking for them. If a PC wants a dead friend brought back, they get a decomposing zombie dead friend. And so on. If he can twist the wishes to make them nasty he will.

  1. Horror Genie – This prisoner genie lives in a torture chamber (it's lamp). As it is tortured, it's wish granting power in increased. When the PCs rub the lamp, there's enough 'juice' for one limited wish. The genie will argue with the PCs and try to get them to postpone using their wish so he can enjoy a break from the lamp. If the PCs push for an early use, the genie, might crock them (See #30). Good PCs will not want to use the wish when they realize the consequences for the genie.

  2. Karmic Genie – This three wish genie is similar to #7 in that his wishes have a price and similar to #30 as the price would be considered a drawback. The genie won't tell the PCs about the price but will say things like 'Everything has consequences'. Whatever the PCs wish for has an immediate balancing effect. For example, a fighter who wishes for improved strength will get it at the price of endurance or agility. A wish for a loved one to be resurrected costs the life of a different loved one or alternatively many friends. A wish for an arch rival to be killed will cause another rival to receive a powerful boon or a previously slain enemy will be revived.
