Xoct's Sauce
This thick sauce, usually a condiment on the platters of the rich, has found a niche in the equipment of thieves.
Xoct's Sauce is a typical condiment for the rich: A thick, blue, fruity sauce made from red wine, several fruit juices, and a number of secret ingredients. It is the latest taste, the fad spice of the day. As the Duke de Gatan of Valantienne noted, 'The fat-handed rich proclaim it the best taste since the salt traders first came.' But behind the innocent trade of this tasty sauce is a surplus of business coming from an unexpected source: Thieve's guilds.
The thieves have discovered that the concoction has a side effect: It gives vision in the dark. Thus, the guilds purchase the expensive stuff by the case at a price that even the usual noble born buyers find prohibitive. The normal consumers find the night vision amusing or annoying, but so far, few but the most perceptive of buyers have seen the use in thievery.
Magical Properties:
Gives the consumer sight in non-magical darkness.
This effect lasts about three hours after the Xoct's Sauce is consumed.

This is a very cool item to exist on a world. It has excellent potential for story lines and story conflict... (A night time festival is coming up and a noble buys up the stock of sauce for his festival... now how are the theives expected to see in the dark to pilfer the homes of those that are at the festivals...)

There could be others, like Bilukka, a tasty spicy sauce that enhances fertility, or that really exquisite ChocBanaKiwiMint fruit that you can't get enough of, but that gives you a 5% chance of fumbling up any spell.
I love stuff like this and have filled my setting to the brim with it. Good, solid post with a cool twist that gives it a .5 boost. Your imagination is good Captain

I enjoy the odd bit of, why is that happening? when the PC's come into contact with something that alters them somehow and they didn't pay attention. Good job. I usually don't go for the creating of food, but its a neat idea.

Next on Iron Chef Armorica, the secret ingredient - Xoct's Sauce.
Looks like the challenger is going to open with a light fennel, sunflowerseed and mandarin orange salad with a dressing of vinagrette and Xoct's Sauce. Oh my, that's fifty GP a bottle, and he's already used two!
Looks like he is going for a Xoct smoked ham, using a mixture of cloves, honey, and Xoct's sauce for a glaze. Using the dragonite chips in the smoker is a great way to smoke food fast. Oh, I agree!
Oh, looks like the Iron Chef is retaliating with a Xoct brulee, notice how he scorches the top of the brulee before adding the schnozzberries. Now that is a master's touch.
But he better be ready, looks like the challenger has added a mixtuire of honey water, cream, and XS to the elemental bowl of ice, looks like hes going to be making blue ice cream and decorating it with a sprig of Misteria blossom, how pretty!

Nice! Though I would think the use of it to see in the dark would quicky supercede normal use. Nobels would use it for the novalty, amd for equipping their troops for night fighting.
This sauce could cause a serious change in warfare, and help humans against the night-seeing races.
'You're gonna eat that Xoct's Sauce on your chow and like it, soldier!'
