Grug The Exile

This orc rides into battle with the same ferocity as the Horseman of War.


The Guild Game

Orc male, 6’10” tall, 250lb, 22 year old Fighter

Grug was a proud warrior for his tribe. Always eager to fight Grug was never one to shy away from battle; usually he was the one leading the charge into it. After one particular battle he saw a vision of a horseman riding through the battle field. This great being spoke only one word, Szutiel. Taking the vision as a sign, Grug chose to worship the mysterious being on horse back and used this vision to help fuel him during battle.

One day, a great raid was to be had on a caravan taking food supplies to an Elven settlement. Grug charged in with no mercy for any living being. Men, women, children were all slaughtered equally until a surprise attack from a band of human solders turned his attention. The human soldiers made short work of the orc raid, slaughtering their numbers except Grug who ended up being blinded by a beam of sunlight conjured up by a human cleric with what looked to be a symbol of a sun on his chest.

Left for dead, Grug was thrown into a nearby river where he was later picked up by the chieftain of his tribe and a small scouting party. After their return, Grug was sent to the shaman's tent where he would receive healing, while the chieftain and a small group discussed the outcome of the raid. Two weeks later, after recovering enough to function Grug was summoned to the chieftain's tent where the chief cast Grug from the tribe, claiming his rage was the true source of his blindness. After a short spat and an aggressive exiling from the tribes boarders Grug set out to find something to expel his anger on. After a short while he came across a lone farmstead with no real defenses and a single couple, one Human one Elf, that suspected nothing. Blood and fire were all that were left in his wake.

Months past and Grug joined up with a band of mercenaries in hopes they would provide him with the ability to fill his battle lust. Jumping from group to group he wasn't afraid to kill anyone or anything that got in his way. As he came to join a group in a metropolis size city, Grug took up baking as a side job for a little extra coin and as an alibi when the guards came knocking.

Assuming he slaughtered the elven farmers? Or was he about to when something stopped him and he spent time with them and learned how to cook? Can't imagine an orc warrior knowing which herbs to use at his orc encampment.

This one leaves me hanging a bit. Interesting back story and I want to accept it all, just doesn't have all the justification that gets him from a to b so a feeling of things missing stays with me.

I know. His back story ties in with another character in my Guild Game i just havent had the time this past week to get anything posted. Had a 70 hour work week plus ten hours this Sunday for the Super Bowl >_<.

This fellow does not appear to have any redeeming factors, and his switch to baker seems very odd.

I also find it odd an Orc chieftain would blame a warriors rage for his blindness, since rage is usually considered a virtue among the orcs...

Hu's Iron Ball

Hu was an ambassador of the Seventh Emperor of the Reng Dynasty. Throughout his life he traveled across many miles and lands to entreaty with neighboring kingdoms and the semi-savages who dwelled amidst the Metal Mountains.

During one such diplomatic mission, Hu was gifted a small iron marble as a gesture, by a shaman of the Kiy-Kiy tribe. Little else is known of Hu, but that marble was lost and is now somewhere out there for someone to find.

A tiny, shiny sphere, the marble has several properties. First and foremost it is a strong magnet, considerably stronger than its size and density would indicate.

Secondly, if thrown or rolled upon the ground and the command word is spoken, the iron ball will magically enlarge to either the size of an ogres's head or to that of a great globe, twelve feet in diameter. The rolling ball of either size will continue to roll or fly at the same relative speed it was when launched as a marble, and can thus cause great damage to anything in its path. The magnetic power of the ball will also magnify when enlarged.

Legends claim that the ball has been tossed from besieged castles upon attacking foes and rolled at marching armies in ages past. At the end of such rolls, the larger size globe has been known to not only crush soldiers underfoot, but to also "collect" many dozens of metallic weapons and bits of armor unto itself, appearing as an armored sphere, with swords and spears sticking out from it in all directions.

Owning this powerful marble has its drawbacks. Anyone carrying it on their person, will experience the iron ball's insidious effects after some time. The owner feels no worse for wear, but after two month's time they will suddenly awaken one morning to find that their hair has fallen out completely, their teeth loosened like baby's teeth ready to drop, and their fingernails simply shriveled and sliding off the fingers and toes. Perhaps unbeknownst to the owner at first, the iron ball also renders an owner sterile or barren by this time.

Regular clerical healing will not reverse this horrible malady. Only finding and beseeching a shaman of the Kiy-Kiy tribe to heal the iron ball's effects with their particular brand of magic, will work.

Hu's Iron Ball should be handled carefully by players and gms.
