Demonic Flesh Graft

By:

Many men have fought demons, but few have ever become one.

Blinkly the gnome, his mind made twisted and corrupt by Lucint, began working on an evil device. Through Lucint’s instruction and influence many plans were drawn up. Plans so foul many men would not dare speak them aloud. The two captured several towns’ worth of innocent villagers and took all their supplies with them. After many months of work, the demonic device was complete.

When it was finished the machine was the size of a small manor. Many flasks lined its outside filled with putrid liquids found only in the deepest reaches of the abyss. These flasks were connected to the top of the machine with tubes made of human skin. At the bottom of the device there are two openings. One on the bottom left and one on the bottom right. Any creature, living or dead, that is inserted into the left opening will be stripped of its skin, then flesh. What remains is sent to a furnace which burns the refuse for energy. Any living creature that is inserted into the opening on the right will, depending on its views, either receives a blessing or a curse worse than death.

In order to make the device function properly, all of its outer flasks must be filled with an abyssal acid. The left opening must be fed at least one large demon and three adult humans. Then, a person must go into the opening on the right.

Magical Properties:

When the device is functioning properly, anyone who has entered the right side opening will be stripped of all their belongings. The machine will then proceed to pour it’s flasks of acid onto the person. This will, naturally, cause a substantial amount of damage. The device then goes into a horrid process in which the flesh of a demon and the skin of the humans are melted onto the person inside. This should also cause quite a bit of damage.

When the person leaves he has, in essence, become a demon. He should gain their strengths as well as weaknesses. He should appear to be little more than a large and deformed human to most. And his movements may be awkward and sluggish for a few days after this operation.

The "wearer" may also gain a form of natural attack. Such as a claw or large teeth. Perhaps the ability to secrete acid through his pours.

The downside comes with the fact that dead flesh rots. This graft will last no more than three days unless it is treated with some sort of preservative. This could be achieved through a spell. Though another dose of the abyssal acid will work to sustain it for another week.

Should the graft rot off the former "wearer" is simply brought back to his old self. Though if a penalty is to be imposed then his movements may be become awkward again. He may be tainted from living as a demon. Or he may have received permanent scarring from the acids.

I have used demonic grafts in my campaign, but they differ substantially.
Your post could use some work: the process, the reason behind it, variations...

Brrrr, low marks becuase you think it's gross Cheka....so cold.

Echo, I know it could use some work. And for that I'm sorry but I'm not sure just how I could polish this one.
As for the process, I intentionally left it out. I wanted to avoid the low marks for gratuitous amounts of information on the way it happens.

To truly understand the reasons it was built you would have to get a complete understanding of the capmain the Lucint came from. Which is a long story...too long.

As for your variations. I suppose it could just add on individual parts. Such as claws or skin, maybe teeth as well. Or perhaps it could give a man a resistance to acid if you take away the flesh additive.

I could have sworn I've seen this exact item somewhere before...

Oh well.

I don't really think there's enough variation to what happens- they become a demon, so they get big teeth and claws. A bit too cliched... where's all of the spine-flinging palm-mawed tongue-spiking demon things? The ribcage made of fingers? The eternal wailing of the tormented souls stuck in the poor person's skin?

What I am interested in is why would you start with ONE deamon and THREE people to get ONE demon that will only last for 3 days??? What is the point of using it??

Ok Anteaus, This is a perfectly simple idea. I think you didn't read it carefully.

Let's say your the average power-hungry-villain. Nothing to be ashamed about, my players took that role. Now, Somone had built a machine that can turn you into a demon, and grant you their powers. Before this can happen they need the flesh of a demon to do this. They also want the skin of three humans so you can still look like a human after you have transformed. If you would rahter look like a skinned demon though, that's up to you. After you go into the device, you are the one demon and have a demons powers. But the flesh they used to transform you is dead, so it will rot. As I mentioned before, it will only last for three days...and I want you to pay close attention to this part becuase you missed it before, it will only last three days unless it is somehow preserved. Either through a spell or application of the acids used to graft it onto you.

The overall point is you, or your players should you be a GM, are just normal people who kill off one demon and three humans and become powerful for a time. The flesh rotting is mostly for balance.

I don't think I can make it any simpler than that.

Have a large room that elevates either up or down when triggering a trap. The floor can bring the players to new levels, where a mighty beast roams, or the floor flattens the players into the ceiling or drop into a pit of lava.
