These exceptionally well crafted arrows bear a powerful enchantment. If the first target they strike is slain, they will overpenetrate and will attack another nearby target. This carries on until it misses, or there are no targets in short range. Each link drops the accuracy of the arrow by 25%. The additional targets are selected at random so firing into mixed melee is inadvisable.
This arrow helps skilled archers to kill multiple weak foes, though as it provides no additional damage, is of limited use against powerful opponents.
Once the arrow misses, all enchantment is lost.

Still more spring cleaning. Out wit ye!

Nice. I've come across this arrow in that dungeon crawl game...Den of Monsters i think it was called. I like the 'if miss, enchantment lost' bit.
1,000 of these given to an archer troupe could wreck havoc!!

Cool little idea. Kinda weird that the targets after the first one don't have to be in a straight line -- it just functions like Chain Lightning, from what I understand. Scary self-guiding arrow is scary.

Exactly. It is no more accurate then the original archer, and with a cumulative penalty to hit it should miss quickly. That it cannot distinguish allies makes it dangerous at short range, since the archer could potentially qualify as target.
Not sure how true to the spirit of the 100 word challenge it is to clarify in comments.

So it goes all the way through the enemy to continue its hunt? Ouch.

unique magic weapons are hard to come by and this one fits the bill nicely 4/5
