Legendary Terror
The most fearsome creatures ever to be encountered by an adventuring party, and what to do when you do.
-Magnus Eriksson, 2nd Ranger, Queens Shadows.
"They exist my boy, these creatures. For centuries now they have laid dormant, let us hope and pray that they remain where they are, away from us. In the shadows."
This is a collection, arranged in no particular order of the most terrifying beings whose very names can strike fear into even the most seasoned of warriors.
The Balrog
A daemon, the daemon. I cannot tell you much my son, I have only the writings of Kremik of Kaldur to assist me. He writes that this creature is thrice as large as a grown man, his blackened form shrouded in fire. The only part you can see is the head, adorned with large horns inscribed with the langage of the firstborn. Its face beset with two 'eyes' raging with a malice that never sleeps.
He carries with him a mighty staff, also shrouded with fire atop which is set the largest of rubies. Said to contain its essence. Imagine that! It is said that if one who is powerful enough could retrieve that gem, they could unleash its power. Let us hope that it never comes to light, we are not to be trusted with such items, not while we are unable to keep peace between ourselves.
I am rambling on again, ah, yes. This daemon is immensely powerful, it is ancient and possesses a knowledge that most magi can only dream of. No one has ever encountered one and lived to tell about it. There is however a rumour, about a scroll written by Kremik. Detailing his encounter with one, Keeper of the Firstborn I believe they called it.
Abaddon
Hells gatekeeper, a half daemon. The Devil's lieutenant. I haven't seen this one either, right glad I am about that as well. It last walked this earth 6 centuries ago, leading an army straight from the bowels of Hell.
A giant of flesh and bone. Seven feet tall and weilding an axe like you've never seen before, that thing was twice his size. Naked and without any apparent sex, this soulless abomination was destroyed and se back to Hell, where it has been recovering after the gods intervened on our behalf. Let us hope it does not walk again any time soon.
Drakesh
An ancient drake Drakesh is one of the Firstborn, the elder race, the creators.
Drakesh has not been seen for the last three millennia. As the First Age drew to a close most of the Firstborn left this world, where, how, no one knows.
Drakesh is a fickle one, always doing what pleases him, he is both feared and revered. To this day there are still those that seek him out. Hoping for enlightenment, riches, eternal life orfame and glory by means of slaying him.
Cecaelia
Half woman, half squid! The Cacaelia hate us, every seafaring mans nightmare. They'll attack without warning it does not take a lot to make them angry. They are right, the sea is their domain, as the land is ours. That is the way it should stay.
Even worse are those that sire them, the Kraken.
Feel free to add any of your own terrifying, awe inspiring, ancient creatures as either a codex or a scroll. I hope to see this grow over time, and I also hope to bring a few more myself.
A big thank you to Scrasamax for writing Cacaelia which somehow inspired me to write this.
The other links that I have included here are still in work on my desktop. I will upload them soon as well.

A solid and well-presented sub.

None of your links work though.

They are still in work, I will upload them soon.
My apologies for any confusion.

Hmm, you're right. None of them do!? The links to Scrasamax' profile and his submission should though. Hmmph!

What Moonlake said.
Good sub, well written and presented.
4/5

There's a lot of good flavor going on in the background that I really like. Some of them seem a little generic, though. What do Drakesh look like? I'm picturing a dragon's head crawling on a nest of tentacles for some reason.

Drakesh Sir?
Well I ain't ever seen one meself. Arr, but legend has it they're dragons, just you know, bigger..

It's supposed to be generic, I don't want to go in to too much detail here. I hope to give myself and others ideas with this.

The submission also contains grue-infested links where soon submissions will rise.

A short and simple submission.
Maybe this could be expanded upon. At present it seems a little short.

I would suggest at the least creating stubs to contain the linked creatures, with your general thoughts on the subject, rather than subjecting us to Grue's :)

I do kind of like the *almost* explored format here...bizarre beasties and how PCs can defeat/deal with them. Otherwise, what everyone else said.
