Background: This noble has an annoying habit of challenging people to sword duels over the most trivial of slights. As such, other people have avoided him like the plague. The king is well aware of this issue but as an avid devotee of Uzmir, God of War, he doesn't care and in fact, seems to be intentionally enabling him.

We know this due to the fact that he once challenged a farmer to a duel for merely disagreeing with him about the quality of his crops. Even though, technically this is not permitted under the king's law, the king granted a "special exception" for this one. The farmer was unable to find a champion and had to fight the duel himself. He was quickly killed in action by Alden. When we asked the king about this he said "Uzmir told me to do it."

We are not sure if this quick to provoke personality is a result of his upbringing or something else. Information about this is currently being sought but nothing has come up so far. So far according to our observations, there is no one he will not challenge to a duel. He has challenged people from all castes of society and even women are not immune to his challenges. And every time, the king has not only allowed it but also enforced it. Every time the king is called out on this, he says that "Uzmir told him to do it." 

Alden has a collection of various swords and knows how to fight will all of them. His preferred weapon of choice is a half-hand longsword and fights the best with it. His unique method of switching between one and two-handed wielding of this blade has caught many fighters off guard as there is no way to predict when the switch will occur. He always fights wearing armor to cover his arms, legs, and head. He leaves his chest unarmored for some unknown reason.

Current Status: His kill count has reached 20. We have counted 5 knights, 1 count, 3 merchants, 1 begger (WTF!?!), 4 farmers, 1 blacksmith, and 5 guards. All of them were killed in action during one of his duels. We now suspect that Alden might be an avatar of Uzmir itself or at the very least a champion of the god. This is the only explanation we can think of for the king allowing his antics to go on for this long.

His latest duel was against the 8 year old son of a royal guard. Thankfully it was only to first blood and the wound was no deeper then a paper cut. He wanted it to be to the death but the king said no to that, thank the gods. When we asked what the hell that was about, the king once again cited Uzmir telling him to do it. The reason for this duel was that he overheard the kid making fun of him.

The king did tell him that Uzmir said no more challenging kids to duels and that if it happens again, he will be forced to fight in a sacrificial duel against a decorated war hero. A fight he would not likely win.
