Full Item Description

The four sigil stones each correspond to an element, one for fire, ice, wind, and earth. Each stone is unique, with its own characteristics and abilities. The fire sigil is a perfectly spherical rock with one rune symbolizing fire sketched onto its pale red surface. Second, is the ice sigil a pale, misty blue color with a jagged oblong surface and also a single silvery rune representing ice. Third, is the wind sigil, which also bears only one shimmering emerald symbol that stands for (guess..) wind! The wind sigil is irregular in shape because it starts out straight but loops into a curl at the end, and it is a deep green color with stripes of lighter greens all along the surface. Lastly is the earth sigil, a deep brown sphere marked with a black rune that just seems to manage to look like any other brown rocks nearby. The stones by themselves do not grant much power, but when crafted or combined with weapons they invoke a devastating force.

History

Long ago a young noble took up the art of blacksmithing. He was the son of a well known and wealthy lord, so therefore he was destined for better things than smelting iron into tools. He did not think so and continued using his advanced knowledge only for smithing. He knew his father would never approve so he hastily fled the castle, no sooner was he on the road when misfortune struck. He slipped and fell facefirst into a puddle. Thrashing around he felt a very strange emotion, one he had felt only once before... Magic! He grabbed at the source in his blindness and then fled with a handful of mud and the magical thing he supposed. He had gone a great distance before he stopped to rest and examine his prize. He washed up in a nearby stream and discovered not one but four magical stones! He felt only a small trace of their power but his intuition told him they were once artifacts of great power. He traveled across the land and using his skills he eventually aqcuired a labratory and many tomes describing ancient arcane secrets. He then devoted his time to unlocking the powerful magic he supposed was locked within. One day he hit upon sucess, he had come across words of power written in an abyssal tongue which seemed to activate the stones. Upon these words the stones lit up with symbols of power, releasing the centuries old elemental magic concealed within. Then another discovery was made, the stones themselves couldn't do much but when put together or when channeled through other means they unleashed powerful destructive magic. The young noble used his smithing knowledge and his newfound power in magic to craft many likely vessels for such power, some simply magical and versatile, but others destructive and warlike.

Magic/Cursed Properties
The sigil stones by themselves bear only slight magical properties. The bearer of the fire stone can slightly warm the local temperature or more easily start fires. Those who command the wind stone find that the wind will blow in whichever direction they are facing when they call upon it and can slowly urge the wind to greater speeds. He who wields the ice stone can cool the air and freeze small quantities of water. The earth stone is unique in that its bearer gains the ability to tunnel through earth slowly but leaving no usable tunnel behind. When combined with likely vessels, mainly specially crafted weapons then the weapon transforms into a tool of destruction. The powers depend on the stone, for example the wind sigil stone may infuse a blade with the ability to blow scythes of air capable of cutting into a man.

Origin
Long ago in the making of the worlds order was not yet established. Fire raged around the world burning air and earth alike. Waters rose and flooded the lands and skys, leaving no place for living things. The gods of these elements wanted power over another but the god of goodness and light saw through their schemes. He bound their energies in simple stones and banished them to their own planes of existence to slumber without much strength. These stones he scattered across the world into the darkest craters but some into obvious and overlooked places. They began to blend in unnoticed to the world until a handful were discovered and their magic unleashed. This has undoubtedly awakened the elder elemental gods and they will be working their ways into the powers of the world once more.

Rumors
*Some say there are stones of more untold elements, perhaps one day a stone of water, lightning, or darkness will be found and its powers unleashed.

*Some say before he passed the stones finder created copies and hid them in his labratory.

*Tales abound of the Omnimental stone formed of all four main elements it gives any who wield it the power to challenge the gods.
