30 Starship Air & Maintenance Duct Problems By: Silveressa
Cramped crawl spaces, virtually all starships have them, and usually most players ignore them. Unless a nasty alien gets loose inside the ship, even many Gms don't give them a second thought.. Here are 30 other issues that could require some crawl space access and provide an interesting sub plot. |

Battlefield Promotions: Scars of War By: Silveressa
A Sci-fi tale surrounding a Earth force captains first command and battle against an unknown alien race. This is the first 2 1/2 chapters of my on going Battlefield promotion novella, I have attempted to blend third and first person writing together in a smooth natural fashion, and strived to keep true to the details of space as it's understood by modern astronomy today. It may be a bit slow to pick up the pace in the beginning, but it does gain momentum. For those who are curious I'd consider this story to be rated PG-13 or R due to descriptive violence. |

The Darkest of Winters: Session #20 By: Silveressa
“I can’t help but wonder if this whole undead business is restricted to humans or if it affects animals too.” –Riley, pondering the effects of The Wave. “You do know humans are just another animal in the grand scheme of evolution right?" –Renee, showing off her intellect yet again. “Ssh! Not so loud, you might tempt fate into having us find out!” -Heather, displaying an unusually superstitious fear of fate. (And of tempting the GM) |

The Darkest of Winters: Session #21 By: Silveressa
“In light of this whole zombie plague I’m thinking they’re going to have to redefine R.I.P to Rise in Putrescence.” –Riley, recalling the usual gravestone markings. “How about Rot In Pieces?” –Jessy, proving acronyms can mean whatever the reader intends. |

The Darkest of Winters: Session #22 By: Silveressa
“There’s another reason they call it the chain of command you know.” –Riley, recalling his military training. “Because they tie you in chains if you don’t obey it?” –Renee, taking a wild guess. “Because the lives of everyone under your command weighs like a ball and chain around your neck.” –Riley, remembering the troops who looked to him for leadership in the Gulf war. |

Pet & Peer NPCs By: Silveressa
Sometimes playing a major NPC that’s part of the party can be tough. After all, it’s hard not to have the NPC come up with a winning strategy, spot a piece of evidence or find a trap the PCs overlooked. However, if one does this too much, the NPC becomes the crutch the group leans on as soon a problem presents itself. When done too little, the NPC is usually treated as a useless addition outside of menial labor and an extra weapon in combat. Here are a few techniques to keep them fun and useful , and become a party member the GM and players will like having around. |
