Appearance
His thick black hair is peppered with early grey, and his face is begining to age into permanent frown lines. His piercing grey eyes betray his Gothic parentage, and his dark skin are inherited from his Bizzannite mother and a lifetime of work in the sun. Dominitan likes to dress well, preferring stylish and new atire, with his current favourite being a black velvet jacket lined with silver. He keeps his jewelry modest, and rarely caries any weapon or much cash.
History/Background
Marcus Dominitan began his early years as a common dock worker. His dislike of physical labour coupled well with his innate talent for playing people off against one another. This would have led him eventually to a foreman position, or less-reputably to a gang leader. However, the old harbourmaster was retiring, and Dominitan had a plan. He had rivals at each others’ throats even more than ever, with a few well-placed rumours & a few select fights started, and capitolised on his Gothic ancestry by impying that he was somehow connected to the Darklings. This allowed him to gather enough support to overcome his rivals for the position—who were focused more upon each other—and solidified it by hiring thugs to threaten attack any who would not support him during the elections.

Roleplaying Notes
Dominitan will be a potential problem for some groups, and an easy bribe for others. Marcus alternates between complete silence, and loud interrupting—he can be a real jerk if he’s not getting his way. However, he does run the docks efficiently, and can be rather demure if things go smoothly. Shift your eyes back & forth when playing him, and be prepared to switch from polite to boorish if the players aren’t giving you your proper respect. Dominitan isn’t ambitious, but he is greedy & has a quite preenable ego, but will instantly dislike someone he thinks is making fun of him with false praise. Remember also that there are a number of unproductive sorts loafing about who are more than willing to do your dirty work and inflict violence upon someone for a few coins—don’t hesitate to use them.
