Guild of Technomancers Artifact Acquisition Log No. 80.178.01

One of our fighters brought us a suit of armor. He said he bought it from a merchant who wanted to get rid of it so badly that he sold it for 10 gold pieces. When asked why, the merchant claimed that the armor was cursed despite the fact that it was supposed to be the same one worn by Paladin Corvus, a hero known for his unbreakable honor. We are sending it to the hackerspace in the capital city for analysis by the techmages there.--

Guild of Technomancers Artifact Research Log No. 15.993.05

We received the suit of cursed armor from the Chorrol Hackerspace they said they would be sending to us. Upon first inspection, it appears to be crafted from adamantium which is a very difficult material to work with but it retains enchantments extremely well. It makes for a very durable and lightweight suit of full plate armor. There is extremely minimal wear on the surface of the armor despite being worn by the most battle hardened paladin in this county.

According to the markings on the pieces, this armor was crafted by the legendary dwarven armorsmith Mzark. Interestingly this inscription can be found on the cuirass:

"Ye who dons this armor shall conduct thyself with honor and integrity or else."

The techmages have scanned this armor and found signs of a powerful enchantment on it. But figuring out what it does is going to be difficult since our scanning arrays detected some kind of sophisticated arcane obfuscation. It will take awhile to remove it and find out the source spells.--

Guild of Technomancers Artifact Research Log. 15.993.06

According to the historical records about Paladin Corvus, he was the notorious rogue who shat up the thieves guild by killing the guildmaster over a century ago. Ten years later he was caught by Count Ruffio trying to steal a massive amount of gold from his treasury and sent off to the Paladins of Lady Justice to be reformed. There, he was given this suit of armor and made to wear it as a method to guide him away from the dishonorable path of the rogue.

Now this part is what really caught our attention. It says that Corvus was able to complete his rehabilitation and then initiation within the span of a year. This has never happened in the history of the Paladins of Lady Justice before. It was the stated that this armor was the reason for this. We can thus conclude that this suit of armor was made specifically for him given this fact and that this is the only one of its kind.

We have decided to test this armor out by assigning it to someone in the guild and having that person do some quests and run some tests that would help us determine what this armor does exactly.--

Guild of Technomancers Artifact Research Log No. 15.993.07

We have assigned this armor to our rogue Lazerus Eirthor and have sent him on a quest to prevent the bandit gang known as the Hackblade Raiders from pillaging the outskirts village of Tambas Watch. A few knights errant accompanied him to assist. A techmage will also tag along to record the effects of the armor. We will report on what happens after the quest is completed.--

Guild of Technomancers Artifact Research Log No. 15.993.08

The Hackblade Raiders live no longer. Having been slain in combat against our rogue and the knights errant that came with. The techmage reported some very unusual things that happened during the confrontation. When the rogue tried to approach from behind the bandits to perform a stealth kill, he screamed in pain and dropped his dagger. This alerted them and he had nothing to defend himself with. Thankfully one of the knights had a spare sword and tossed it to him.

After killing the last one, our rogue tried to pick one of the knight's pockets but again he screamed and this time fell to the ground writhing in agony for a few seconds. After getting the quest reward along side the knights, he tried to head over to his shady hideout where his other rogue friends are located. But when he tried to assist them in a heist, again he was on the ground in crippling agony according to their report to us.

We have an idea as to what is causing this sudden pain when doing rogue things but we need to run a few tests to verify this.--

Guild of Technomancers Artifact Research Log No. 15.993.09

After running a few tests with Lazerus wearing Corvus's Armor and also successfully removing the obfuscation on the enchantment, we can now confirm our speculation. This is how the curse works:

Anytime the wearer does something that is considered dishonorable or goes against the code of the Paladins of Lady Justice, the armor will inflict an intense pain on the wearer. It does this by sending signals directly to the pain centers of the brain which explains the lack of physical signs on the body.

This explains how Paladin Corvus was rehabilitated and converted from being a rogue. It also explains the inscription on the cuirass too. The armor conditions you using punishment to abide by this paladin code. It is, for all intensive purposes, a brainwashing tool. While this is very fascinating, this is also very frightening as well since this suit of armor is designed to break your will and turn you into a slave to the Paladins of Lady Justice.

This armor will be assigned to the power hungry lawful stupid paladin in our ranks Alex Roderic. Perhaps it will teach him a lesson.--
