Ambiance:

The Fortress Pines are a copse of ancient pine trees growing in a forest. These trees are hundreds of years old, and their close proximity to each other has created the appearance of a fortress growing out of the forest. At ground level the land is shady, the forest floor thick with soft fallen pine needles, and the scent of forest decay. The trees themselves are on the order of 200 feet tall, and are five to eight feet wide (not circumference)

History:

These trees have been here a very long time, and have gone untouched and unbothered. They sit on top of a major eddy in the flow of essence which has manifested as a known spawn point for beasts and monsters. It is generally a good idea to not bother the trees, though passing near them it generally only somewhat hazardous

Encounters:

Forest Bear

It's a bear, it's dangerous. It's going to try to eat you

Forest Boar

It's a small pack of quite large forest boars. They're dangerous, but the sows and piglets are edible

Craw Wurm

It's a large green serpent. Snake body, draconic head, the size of a Hollywood anaconda. It's going to try to eat you. You can eat it, and its hide and organs are valuable

Forest Lion

It's a large cat. More dangerous than the boars, less dangerous than the bears. The local lords might take offense to the slaying of their heraldic beast

Arboreal Spider

Oh Jesus, these things are fucking everywhere

Sylvan Kobold

These aren't lizardlings, they're bipedal mammals, furry green things on par with Gnomes but have more in common with generic mammal pokemon. Neutral encounter, not automatically hostile. Like ewoks.
