Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.00

Progress has been slow. We have created what is believed to be a viable augmentation process to attach the severed head of the subject to the robotic body without any complications. But for the process to be survivable, the subject must meat specific mental and physical, prerequisites.

The main problem now is that there is a lack of elves that are willing to volunteer as a test subject. And the ones that did, have not been able to pass the medical evaluation. However this might soon end. Our partners at the Guild of Biomancers have been looking and found a viable sub-species of Elf that are lesser known to the wider population.

These elves have a very dark skin tone and also a slight genetic variation that makes them more rugged then others. One of them who has been causing trouble in a human tavern is currently en-route to Research Facility UMBRA-6 for processing. Once we evaluate the subject and it passes, it will be transferred to the MOBILE TOTEM Research Labs for immediate use.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.01

The subject has arrived at UMBRA-6. The medical evaluation is promising. We might have the first subject that can survive the augmentation process. Admittedly we have not tried to augment the other ones that have failed the evaluation because there is no point in doing it to a subject that would not survive in the first place.

The people at ALPHA-1 have asked us what this project is supposed to do. We told them as follows: The Goal of Project: MOBILE TOTEM is to see if it is possible to create fully autonomous robotic elven warriors to send on quests and battles for the Guild. Since we do not trust AI for this, we have concluded that the only way to do this is integrate a live brain into the robot itself.

While our partners in the Guild of Biomancers have several ways of rapidly growing a live brain, we rejected all of them as too risky since those brains start off as a blank slate and must be slowly raised and taught basic functionality such as walking and talking. That is simply impractical and thus not worth attempting. Where as using an already existing brain with experience in those functions would be much more useful.

ALPHA-1 wants us to send a few of the completed ones to their location once done so they can run their own tests. Thus the transfer of the first batch of prototypes has been preapproved for Research Facility ALPHA-1.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.02

The Dark Elf has passed the medical evaluation. Subject No. MTDE-0001 is being transferred to the research lab for augmentation but had to be sedated due to its protestations when we attempted to move it. This subject has been considered a murderer by the humans due to causing a massacre in a village over an altercation over its race. It has thus been handed over to our Biomancer partners who were looking for elven test subjects for this project.

The Augmentation Process is unfortunately, quite painful and the subject must be conscious for it to work successfully. If the subject is unconscious at any moment during the process, the brain will shut down which will kill the subject. Thus a special potion that paralyzes the body must be administered directly into the vain before augmentation begins. A robotic mechanism will be what does the actual procedure since we have agreed that the screams of the subject might cause a person to make a mistake.

The augmentation will begin on the next day after the subject fully awakens.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.03

The subject is awake and ready to undergo augmentation. It is secured to the table and the robotic body is being prepared to receive the head of the subject.

The robotic body is now ready to receive the head of the subject.

The paralyzing agent is injected into the subject. It will take a few minutes to take effect.

The paralyzing agent is now fully in effect. A magi-tech array is powering up to apply the next step.

A special stabilizing magic is applied to the subject to prevent the subject's blood from draining from the head. As this will start as soon as the neck is cut.

The subject's head is removed from the body with a plasma cutter. The severed head is packed up by the robotic arm to be placed on the robot.

The head is attached to the robotic body and the grafting spell is applied to ensure that nerves will be connected properly to the right parts of the robotic body.

The protective helmet is placed over the head and fused to the robotic body. The spell to remove the reproductive, hunger, and thirst instincts is applied to finalize the procedure. As those will not be needed anymore due to the robotic body.

Augmentation process is complete and the newly created Elven Robo is now ready to receive instructions and undergo testing.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.04

Subject MTDE-0001 has successfully been augmented. Subject is still in a state of shock and confusion as to what happened to it. It might take awhile for it to get used to the new body.

One of the advantages of this new body is that it can be modified to fit specific needs. Currently it is designed to greatly enhance the warrior capabilities of the elves such as dexterity, senses, acrobatics, strength, and speed. An experimental module that adds stealth capabilities is also in the works too. Such stealth capabilities includes Active-Camo.

The protective helmet has an encrypted commlink, a multi-mode visor, and intelligent HUD. It is also capable of withstanding small explosions.

Once the subject is deemed ready, testing of the body followed by the helmet will begin. But first we need to explain to the subject what exactly is going on and what its purpose is from here on out.

The subject's friends and family have already been informed about this and that it is a way to give the subject a new purpose in life.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth Project: MOBILE TOTEM Secure Forum Thread: Subject Selection Bias.

OP by Starboy97: I have some concerns regarding the project. I think we should diversify the test subject pool a bit. The fact that we are using Dark Elves exclusively right now really reflects badly on both the Biomancers and Technomancers. It might cause some controversy among the other populations.

RangerBowman13: We would, but so far no other species of elf has passed the medical evaluation.

Starboy97: I understand, but it just feels wrong targeting a specific species of Elf for this project.

HaroldKaelthas: We are exploring all the species of elves on Middle Earth for viability. And just what kind of controversy do you think this will create???

Starboy97: Well, the Dark Elves are known to be very homogeneous species culturally. They might raise a stink over it and protest.

Biopunk89: This is only the first batch of subjects we are talking about. And those have all been transferred to ALPHA-1. There are no Dark Elves anywhere near the region ALPHA-1 is located at. The second batch is going to remain at UMBRA-6 and there is a lack of them there too. The largest known enclaves of Dark Elves are near GAMMA-3 and DELTA-4.

ElvenLady9K: If you are trying to troll this forum Starboy, it will not work. The Dark Elves near those two places know about this project and they have been sending us their problematic individuals to us willingly. If you are thinking that the Guild of Biomancers or Technomancers is actively capturing them for this project, this is absolutely untrue.

Starboy97: I'm not bring a troll!!!

HaroldKaelthas: Yes, you are. Also, no one cares about the fate of Dark Elf criminals. It's better then leaving them to rot in a dungeon that's for sure.

AdminAethieal: I am locking this thread because things are getting heated.

Subject: MOBILE TOTEM Subjects

Hey, just got the first batch of test subjects you promised us. Three of them are current on a Recon Mission to a nearby Orc Horde. Another three are testing out a new Stealth Module. Another three are being trained to use a new Scoped Bow that we are developing.

However, one of them, Subject No. MTDE-0010 has been malfunctioning. It is constantly complaining about human rights violations and discrimination even though nothing of the sort happening to it as far as we know. We sent it on a courier job to deliver a new Hardware Security Module to EPSILON-5's Command and Control Center but it has suffered considerable damage on the way back. Thankfully the armor around the head prevented it from being destroyed.

Can you ask the Guild of Biomancers about this as I don't have the clearance to contact them regarding Project: MOBILE TOTEM.

Subject: MOBILE TOTEM warning.

Hello, Orkrest relayed your message to me.

There is a group of humans in a small town close to the EPSILON-5 C&C Facility that have taken serious umbridge with idea of "Mechanical Knife-Ears". I would avoid that town from here on out as there is nothing we can do about this. I am glad to hear that the advanced armor protected the subject from critical damage though. We will add this to the research logs.

Keep in mind that the subject retains the same memories and experience it had before augmentation. So what you observed was probably not a malfunction. Though if the so-called "human rights violations" it is referring to is the MOBILE TOTEM Project itself, then this is concerning. The last thing we need is those Dark Elves starting a riot.

If this is going to be a problem, the MOBILE TOTEM project will have to be moved to our Research Lab Hydra Facility which is located in a more remote region of Middle Earth. We do not want those Dark Elves attacking UMBRA-6 over something we cannot control. Research Lab Hydra is harder to find and will definitely be more secure against civilian rioters due to its obscure location.

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.10

We just got a notice from the Guild of Biomancers that there might be some complications in the future in regards to this project. The MOBILE TOTEM labs might have to be moved to the Biomancers Hydra Facility. One of the subjects we sent to ALPHA-1 has been protesting the treatment it has been receiving. Though we are not sure if it is from us or some human village near EPSILON-5.

We are going ask ALPHA-1 to get some clarification as to what Subject No. MTDE-0010 is complaining about and see if this could become a problem in the future. In the meantime we are slightly increasing the security around all Guild of Technomancer Facilities in case something happens. We honestly have no idea what is happening among the Dark Elf populations right now but it might be a good idea to insert a few spies among them just in case.

As for the second batch of subjects, those have been assigned to BETA-2 who has requested a few of them. The second batch has been augmented and will be prepped for transport soon.--

Guild of Biomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Status Log No. 12.196.11

The Guild of Technomancers is getting ready to move all augmentation operations to Research Lab Hydra. Although they have not been signalling that they will actually go through with it, concerns about the Dark Elf populations have prompted them to take precautions.

We have a partnership with a few of the Orc Tribes to send unruly subjects to be tamed. We have not asked them how this is done nor do we wish to know how the orcs break the will of individuals. If the Guild of Technomancers needs help with MOBILE TOTEM subjects, we have told them they can send them to us and we will take care the problem.

We trust the Guild of Technomancers to know what they are doing.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.11

Something is odd about the third batch of subjects. These were more unruly then normal so we sent them to the Guild of Biomancers who said they would assist us with this issue. But when they were sent back to us, they were acting very concerning. Almost as if what the Guild of Biomancers did something to them that broke them mentally.

We are going to proceed with the augmentation of the first of this batch but there is something that doesn't feel right.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.11

The first subject of this batch died during the augmentation process and another one attempted to end its own life. This has not happened before and we are ordering the reevaluation of the remaining subjects. Something is definitely wrong and we are going to find out what it is.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.13

WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED!?! The health of all of the subjects has declined considerably! Signs of what appears to be physical, mental, and ****** abuse are present on all of them! No wonder things went downhill! We contacted the Guild of Biomancers about this and they acknowledged it but said they didn't know how it happened either!

We suspect there is something they are not telling us and we might have to hack their network to find out what it is.--

Those test subjects you sent back to us were severely damaged! You said you would assist us in handling unruly subjects, not that you would torture them into submission like common slaves! As a result, one of them DIED during the augmentation process and another tried to commit suicide! I know this is not something you do so you must have handed them over to someone else! Who did you send our subjects to!?!

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.19

This is a disaster! All of the subjects in Batch 3 had to be terminated because they were beyond salvaging! The Guild of Biomancers is giving us the runaround in regards to what happened to them. From now on we will handle all MOBILE TOTEM subjects internally.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.20

Since the Guild of Biomancers is being unusually secretive about what happened to the Batch 3 subjects, we decided to infiltrate their internal network in Research Lab Hydra. Although there was not much of interest in the network since most of the data was encrypted, we did uncover something interesting in the email servers.

It appears those subjects were sent to a third party. But all we know about that is the name "ASSET-16-BB" which doesn't really help us at all. Nothing else of interest was found. We would confront them about this ASSET-16-BB but that would reveal that we hacked them.

MOBILE TOTEM Subject Batch 4 is going better then 3. It seems that the Guild of Biomancers must be really incompetent when it comes to handling subjects who are unruly. However we are really curious as to what this ASSET-16-BB is. It might be a group of slavers considering what happened to the Batch 3 subjects.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.21

So we have been asking a few of our contacts within the slaver communities around Middle Earth about ASSET-16-BB but so far no dice. However when we described what we suspect happened to the Batch 3 Subjects, one of them said it sounds like the work of the Buckbreaker Orc Tribe.

When we inquired further, we were told that this group of orcs has been known for breaking the will of "elf-flesh" with great success. This is suspicious but not enough to confront the Guild of Biomancers with. No matter, what's done is done and we are no longer going to trust the Guild of Biomancers with handling MOBILE TOTEM subjects.--

Guild of Biomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Status Log No. 12.196.12

The Guild of Technomancers is really angry at us. They say that the subjects that we were given to tame were damaged and two of them died. We never did bother to ask what those Orc Tribes do to the people we send to them. We just know that they can tame rebellious people and that was all we needed to know.

The Guild of Technomancers is accusing us of hiding information but the truth is we honestly did not know what the Orc Tribe we designated as ASSET-16-BB was doing to tame those subjects. Now that we know, we will decommission this Asset immediately. We will also look into the other three Orc Tribes we are working with as well to see if they are doing anything similar.--

Tox Message Log over Secure Onion Connection Begin:

eepsword > So we have been looking into what happened to the batch 3 subjects.

Orkrest > AND!?!

eepsword > You are correct that we didn't tame the subjects ourselves.

eepsword > We handed them over to an Orc Tribe to be tamed.

Orkrest > You mean the Buckbreaker Tribe right!?!

eepsword > Yeah.

eepsword > How did you know that?

Orkrest > Let's just say we asked around and learned a few interesting things!

eepsword > We honestly didn't know that was what that tribe does.

Orkrest > Right...

eepsword > I'M TELLING THE TRUTH!

eepsword > All we knew about them was that they were good at taming particularly troublesome people!

eepsword > I SWEAR!!!

Orkrest > I hope you are being fully honest!

Orkrest > Because if you are not, THERE WILL BE SERIOUS TROUBLE!

eepsword > I swear that I am telling you everything we know.

Orkrest > Alright.

eepsword > We are also no longer dealing with that tribe anymore.

Orkrest > You better not be.

Orkrest > At least not for the MOBILE TOTEM project.

Orkrest > We honestly don't care who you deal with.

Orkrest > But we expect you to follow the instructions we send you when you get stuff from us!

eepsword > I understand.

Orkrest > GOOD!

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.23

Batch 4 subjects have been transferred to DELTA-4 as per their request. At least these subjects survived the augmentation process. We did get some new information about what happened to Batch 3 from the Guild of Biomancers.

It turns out that they partnered with the notorious Buckbreaker Orc Tribe and handed the subjects over to them. We had no idea that they would cut corners like this! We sent them explicit instructions to handle those subjects with care and they ignored them!

We honestly thought that they would just reprogram their brains or something. I guess that there are limits to what Biomancy can do. Anyway, this is all water under the bridge now.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.24

We have received an unusual request from an Human Enclave in the Gondor Region. They want to use a few of them as servants of sorts. We assume that the term "servant" is just another word for "slave" or "thrall". Normally we wouldn't help them with this but they offered a hefty sum of coin for them. So we are sending Batch 5 to them.

We asked them how they learned about them and they responded with that fact that they have been sighted questing in their location. They assumed we had something to do with them and they happened to be correct. When we asked what kind of work are they wanting them for, they said it was for an easily repairable force of troops under their control.

We did warn them that these are not mindless robotic servitors but they said they can handle it. Just in case something goes wrong we will be sending a few of us with them to monitor and collect data of course. Thankfully UMBRA-6 is located in the mountains of Gondor so it will be a short trip for them.--

Guild of Technomancers Middle Earth, Project: MOBILE TOTEM Research Log No. 13.156.25

MOBILE TOTEM Batch 5 Subjects are augmented and ready to be transferred to the nearby human enclave. They did ask for them to be outfitted with the traditional Gondorian battledress so we had to modify the robotic bodies and the protective helmet to resemble Gondorian armor. We have to admit that this was a great custom job.

I just hope they can deal with the fact that these Dark Elves mostly view humans with contempt and vice-versa. So there might be some trouble in giving them instructions. We did advise them that care should be taken to not provoke them since they can be aggressive like animals on very rare occasions. Though this is nothing unusual for most sentient beings.

Like we said, these are not mindless drones. They are still sentient and have their own feelings and such. So we have to keep that in mind when making them and using them. Though they might need to be trained in the use of human weapons since they are not used to using them. That unsual way they shoot a bow is funny to see though.--
