1-Count Mark Ulmanis and Countess Pelly

Count Mark Ulmanis was from one of the oldest noble lines at the royal court of Queen Yocasta who before her daughter died was perfectly sane. He made the mistake of falling in love with a beautiful, intelligent noblewoman and plannng a secret marriage without gaining royal permission first, as he feared the Queen would say no to the match. Somebody snitched on the lovers and they were arrested. The angry Queen had mercy on the noblewoman and pardoned her, but she had a different fate in mind for him.

A female goblin named Pelly was captured from a cave system in the woods by the Queen’s soldiers and she expected to be put to the sword or sold to slavers to toil under the lash, but instead her green skin was lovingly cleaned and she was put in a specially tailored noble wedding dress and bridal crown. Then in one of the finest cathedrals of Vallermoore, within Grand City, the luckless Mark was forced to marry her in a grand ceremony to mock him and spoil his life.

Although he was angry with the Queen, Mark didn’t blame Pelly for it, and he decided that a good way to get the last laugh in was to genuinely win the love of his three foot tall, green skinned black haired goblin bride. He dated her and took things slow and got to understand her and the two ended up falling in love for real and being sweet and romantic to each other. After several years together Pelly evolved into a Hobgoblin his size. If all goes well, she will one day evolve again to a Chromatic Hobgoblin. 

She has become an accomplished painter of portraits and landscapes and battle scenes and it is this that is slowly triggering her evolving. His love and respect for her has also helped her to evolve and she loves him as much as he loves her.

2-John MacCarthy and Nimency

John MacCarthy is an adventurer who has so far plunged into the depths of the Gygaxian Gyre three  times, and the second time around he heard screams and found a young brown hairy goblin maiden trapped in the web of a giant spider and about to become spider food. Many adventurers would have left her to her fate, but he threw a rock at the spider and then killed it when it attacked him instead and cut her free from the web.

She swore loyalty to him in gratitude and went to Terrasquestone with him and the two became friends and then more than friends and became lovers. He taught her how to use a sword well and in only a few years she evolved into a Hobgoblin. After seven years of living together he proposed to her and they became husband and wife and opened a shop selling adventure equipment for those who risk their lives entering the Gyre, and enjoy a very nice upper-middle class life.

3-Oliver Wencelaslas and Marcie

Oliver Wencelaslas is a researcher at a magical university and his field of study is Goblinkind. To find out how free goblins live their lives, he took on the magical shape of a Hobgoblin and infiltrated a goblin tribe, proving his worth to them and then living as one of the members of the larger bands. And it was there after a few years that he met a Hobgoblin woman named Marcie and over time they became friends and then more than friends and they ended up dating and eventually getting married.

Now he is worried because she wants to have children and him, and she wants him to start evolving to a Chromatic Hobgoblin, and his magical disguise won’t let him do either thing. He is considering fleeing the goblin warren that he is living in, but he does genuinely love Marcie and wants to stay by her side. If she knew who he really was it would be unlikely that she would feel the same way.

4-Thomas Knight and Xandra

Thomas Knight is a wizard who took a job with a caravan travelling through the Diamond Desert and the caravan was attacked by night by a large goblin band. They should have circled the wagons but had not bothered to do so. Thomas’s staff happened to be loaded with a love spell and it was this spell rather than combat magic that blasted the nearest Chromatic Hobgoblin, who happened to be the eldest daughter of a Goblin Lord.

They  grabbed him, overpowered him and were about to behead him with a cleaver when the affected goblin threw herself over his body and insisted that he was spared. Over time the love spell wore off, but by that time he and the goblin princess Xandra were a genuine couple in love. Now he uses his spells of healing, combat and Create Clean Water to benefit the goblin band.

5-William Brown and Yarkle

William Brown, a village blacksmith, made a bet that he could seduce a goblin barmaid within a year, and in fact it only took seven months to win her love. By that time, rather to his surprise, he had got very fond of the brown skinned goblin maiden and what started as a rather mean bet turned into a long lasting coupledom and then into a wedding. Now he is trying to help her evolve into a Hobgoblin his size. The villagers are divided about how they feel about the coupledom and about goblins in general, but it's not illegal to be in a human-goblin relationship-as long as the humans and the goblin tribes remain at peace. If war does break out, things could get very awkward for them, to say the least.

6- Rory Adams and Amber

Rory Adams was a student at a magical university who took pity on a goblin woman who was being bulled and robbed by a thug, so he cast a spell that caused the thug's guts to feel as if they were twisting around within his body. The grateful goblin kissed his hand in gratitude and offered to become in effect  his familiar. He took her offer up and over time has taught her several spells, such as werelight, various cantrips, and the twisting guts spell for self defence, and given enough time, she will evolve to Hobgoblin status and possibly even further. The two have also become deeply in love without any love potions or love spells being responsible.

7- Princess Eleanor and King Shandruk

It is rumoured that Princess Eleanor of Vallermoore wept many bitter tears when for reasons of state her parents ordered her to marry a Goblin King but to her surprise the marriage has been a happy one. It helps that the King is slightly taller then her, rippling with muscles, good looking, at least as good as a goblin can look, and gives her a great amount of trust and love, partly as he knows most humans find lesser goblins repulsive and he has a Great Wife who is a Goblin Queen for his heirs.
