Gloves of the Ironworker

Leather gloves that grant one the ability to manipulate metal.

When Sorn Ironspirit had gained his first footholds into his newly chosen art of magic, he looked about the smithy which had raised him, and he knew that there must be a better way. More, after some short time, he knew what that better way must be. For many months he studied and experimented with ways to twist the metal, to shape it, and after many failures, the Gloves of the Ironworker were born.

After Sorn’s preferred fashion, the fingers of the gloves extend only so far as the first knuckle, no matter who happens to be wearing them. Crafted of deeply stained red leather, they are etched with runes of golden thread, runes of iron, fire, and strength.

Magical Properties:

When invoked by the mind of the wearer, these gloves can effectively replace all of a blacksmith’s tools. With the correct command gestures, the blacksmith may heat the steel, shape it as if with hammer and anvil or any of the dozens of other implements of the blacksmith. With significant practice, even masterworks may be made in this fashion.

In the hands of one much more familiar with the magical essence of metal, these gloves allow free manipulation of previously existing metal.

Wow, this gives an idea for something similar for me, but I won't post it because its just a variation of this, plus I'd have to come up with a background for it.

How about, when a certain pair of gloves are worn, Metal, and ONLY metal, is able to be shaped like warm clay. This could mean some brilliant masterpieces by someone good with their hands, but also, if someone forgets about their gloves, then grips their sword (which was passed for generations through the family) too hard, they bend the steel and ruin it completely. If someones dangling off the end of a cliff with these gloves on, and the only thing which the fellow adventurers can reach down for him to grab was a metal mace, the man could grasp it, and the metal will tear apart like clay, the person falling to their dooms :D

For inspiration, I give this item a 4/5

whole campaign arcs can be created around these gloves. Very nice! This entry does seem to cry out for a little more 'story' however.

The food that eats you back.

Creatures of nightmare, the thankfully rare Mesnoi have unique form and attributes. Only one Mesnoi at a time will ever be "encountered".

In appearance, a Mesnoi resembles a walnut-sized chunk of freshly-roasted red meat from some uncertain yet familiar, edible animal. The insidious creature camouflages itself quite appropriately whenever it can, by slowly making its way amidst feast tables and trays of roasted meats.

Once eaten by the unsuspecting, the Mesnoi sinks down to the stomach, reforming if chewed, and begins to lap up the gastric fluids, digestive juices, and bile that it craves, like a sponge.

The Mesnoi carrier will experience mild to severe stomach pains during this time.

After a few hours of this (this is the only time that the Mesnoi can be purged with magic, or other mundane means), the Mesnoi transforms into its true form inside its victim, that of a miniature, once more walnut-sized, pot-bellied, devil-horned, snake-tailed imp. This horrid little creature then begins to chew and eat its way out of the victim from the inside out with its tiny, razor-sharp teeth, like a rat forced to do so via torture.

The victim almost always dies a slow, agonizing death. That much is certain. The devilish imp then exits its victim and begins its seventy two hour existence of mischief and malevolence, until it once more turns back into a hunk of roasted meat with the movement capabilities of a snail.
