Acehrax raptors
By: Maggot

Acehrax raptors, with fifty foot wingspans and powerful talons, these dangerous creatures, are the bane of the Snake Riders.

Full Description
These terrible things have resemble a cross between an eagle and a dragon, having the white head and talons of a bird of prey but the leathery wings and tail of a dragon. With a wingspan streching 50 feet across, these birds are reknown among the Snake Riders for being the mortal enemy of the beloved Serpents.

Regarded as monsters worth collecting as trophies, they have been the target of many a party of Snake Rider warriors that go off in search of the rocky islands they are said to nest in. Armed with poisoned arrows and spears, the hunters flush the beast out of its lair by building a fire at the entrance. Then, when the beast storms out screaming, they fall upon it with their weapons. This is extremely dangerous, for even when disorientated, the raptor can still be lethal.

The chief of the Ogax tribe who once went on such a hunt, recollects seeing a raptor slay a Serpent with its talons and then rip apart five men with its beak before it was finally brought down.

Additional Information
Most raptors are very solitary and live alone, coming together only to mate. The exceptions to this are females guarding their eggs or fledglings unable to fend for themsleves.

A slow, stupid creature that crawls onto people and latches onto them, often on feet, hands, and other extremities, numbing down the area and slowly feeding on it. It's easy to avoid while awake, but nearly impossible to remove once attached. Many an adventurer has been forced to hack off an arm or leg after waking with a Stoneleech wrapped around it. Sleep with one eye open! (This idea came from "Wizard's Rule")
