Knife of Meat-Loving

By:

A well crafted but otherwise ordinary steak knife. It makes the cutting of meat sooooooo easy.

Full Item Description
A well crafted but otherwise ordinary steak knife.

History
It was forged by a bored demon that wondered what would happen if mortals were cursed with the craving his kind have for the bloody flesh of all things.

Magic/Cursed Properties
Anyone who uses this knife to carve up his meat, slowly finds himself obsessed with the different kinds of meat that one can eat.Why stop with boring things like chicken, beef, and fish, the mind of the cursed one will tell him, urging him to try eating the flesh of about every living thing there is. Soon,it will reach a point where that so annoying pet of one’s wife mysteriously vanishes. Two birds killed with one stone,no? No more harpy of a wife to nag you and a delicious dish made from a totally new kind of meat to feed your craving for meat.

Note:Process only begins if the knife is used on flesh. Otherwise,it is just an ordinary knife.

Simple, but fun idea. If I were to use this I think I'd give the knife "intelligence" so it would try to get used. It gets lost (like the ring of power in tolkien) and found so it can make the rounds, killing all pets. Or maybe the user kills his/her spouse and is put in jail. The knife is found by someone else. The PCs come in to town and find a mystery where families keep having their pets killed first and then their family members. Why is this happening? A nice little mystery ... the whole adventure could involve never fighting anyone perhaps.

Fun!

Pets are gone, spouse is gone, finishing up what is left of the neighbor and he eyeballs his own forearm. Hmmmm!? Why have a forearm when you can have a thigh?

No problem at all with the shortness. Must have forgotten to vote on this good piece... okay, a bad, bad, bad piece!

I still love this Meat-Loving Knife! A great example of a short, but stimulating sub! A fully formed, original, and harrowing concept.

timed out damn it

Boots Of Ennui

       By: Murometz

These magical boots empower the wearer with several abilities at once. Wondrous leaping, water-walking, and even flying! Yet the boots possess an insidious curse upon them as well. A deep and almost unfathomable (by others) feeling of listlessness, boredom, and even apathy affects the boots' wearer at all times whenever they are donned. Magic will not dispel the effects.

And so while the wearer of the boots can perform great feats of action during combat or at other opportune times and key moments, they'll never really want to do so, complaining "Meh, what's the point of it all anyway?" or "I would fly up and save us all guys, but sigh, maybe uhm, soonish, mkay? Bit bored by this whole burning tower at the moment."

Naturally the boots wearer's fellow PCs will grow quickly frustrated with this arrangement. There have been numerous occasions when one angry PC literally tears off the boots from his companion's feet in anger, and dons them in turn, only to immediately suffer from the same effects.

The solution lies in constantly "motivating" the boots' wearer with successful rolls, involving threats, flattery, fiery speeches, or even bribery.
