Prince Felgrin Tirannus of Glauridh
Its Prince Florian from Snow White but alpha chad space marine
Appearance:
Depending on who you ask, Prince Felgrin is either an incredibly handsome dashing young man or the most bland boring predictable face in the city, completely and forgettably normal. The truth is that Prince Felgrin, by Tarasceen human standards is quite handsome, charismatic, and has an effortless sense of grace, humility, and humor. By the more monstrous standard accorded to demihumans and demi hybrids he falls into the category of 'all those humes look the same to me'. This second opinion is far more interested in the doomed lives of tieflings, half-breeds, and sentient monstrous races over the long established core races. Even the term core race offends such tedious spectators. Felgrin is tall, of average build, with his dark brown hair kept in the common style, and the faintest hint of a mustache. To those who find human men attractive, he has cognac honey-colored eyes and mahogany dark hair, a flawless jawline, and a disarming smile. To those who do not, he is pasty with dumb brown eyes and dumb brown hair.
His most common outfit when out and about on the town is a brocaded blue doublet with crimson threading over a white blouse with matching blue hose, a gentlemen's belt and dagger, and riding boots. This matches the colors of House Tirannus, blue and crimson. He doesn't affect any of the heraldry of his noble house, by deliberate choice. The symbol of the House of Tirannus is a pair of swords crossed in front of a tower.
Double-Take
Prince Felgrin doesn't seem like he should be the heir-designate of the Dukedom of Glauridh, the inheritor of the mantle of the Lord of the Aramunmacar, the Sacred Knightdom of the Dawn. He is a soft-spoken man, kind to children and the elderly, mostly respectful to women, and a great lover of animals, nature, and the greatest of human expression: music, art, dance, and the great and noble practice of kanly, what most commoners and spectators would call, grossly, the game of thrones.
Getting to Know Him
I suppose I am very good at a large number of things. I hope you are not upset by this but there are very good reasons for all of these things I can do. My father is the Duke of Glauridh, my childhood was filled with teachers, tutors, and trainers. I started training with a sword when I was six, plate armor at ten, and I fought as a page in my first battle at eleven, a squire when I was thirteen, and I was knighted when I was sixteen. I killed my first man at eight. I understand this is shocking, that as such a youth, bearing a spear and a battle standard I killed another man by stabbing him through the neck. I was riding in tournaments when I was tall enough to sit a war saddle and strong enough to carry a lance.
I had a tutor who taught me languages. I can speak three fluently, a few more poorly. High Elfin is demanding and I have a hard time with it, but the vulgar elfin has such a musical quality to it that it is more like singing than speaking. Another woman taught me etiquette and manners. A harsh man taught me how to ride a horse and couch a lance. Several stern men taught me to command and lead other men into battle, and to know when to send men to their deaths for the greater goal, and when to pull back and retreat.
I have fought in three wars.
I have slain three-score foes in battle.
I have not won a jousting tournament, but I have come close twice.
When I was old enough to leave home, I was sent to Terrasquestone to attend the great academies there.
I can tell you things I have not done. I have never labored. I have never worked a farm, or handled a hammer and anvil, I cannot drive a plow team or handle a wagon team, I know nothing of farming other than to trust in the aldermen of the villages. I cannot breed animals. I cannot brew ale or make wine. I do know about cleaning and washing, and entirely too much about cleaning stables, and minding horses, polishing armor, oiling weapons, fixing leather straps, and I imagine I am rather good about having people scream at me, and I try to accept this as constructive criticism.
Getting to Know All About Him
Prince Felgrin is very much a different man from his father, the Duke of Glauridh, or as they call him Duke Glary. The old duke is a man with a hot temper, despite his age. He has retained a choler that has only become sharper and more acidic as he has aged, and he is often wroth and bellicose without reason. He heaps scorn on his servants, abuses on his family, and only the quiet hand of the Prince has kept the ducal signet ring on his hand. Glauridh has been involved in four wars during the duke's reign.
The Vjencethgar Genocide saw the dukedom and its allies put forth in earnest to slaughter the Vjencethgar. This newly appeared race of dungeonspawn were in the process of establishing themselves on the surface as a primitive hunter-gatherer society and then several hundred heavy cavalry, knights, and three thousand footmen encircled their new home. After the massacre, the bodies were thrown into the maw of the Vjencethgar dungeon until there was no way in or out, and the sky was black with carrion birds.
The duke was officially censured for this, but it was a slap on the wrist, and afterwards Glauridh annexed the Vjencethgar region, and it was turned into an outpost and orchards.
The Bassack Wall War lasted six months and ended with the destruction of Bassack Castle by fire, and the rebellion there put down with sword and spear. Prince Felgrin rode in the command company as an eight-year-old and was tasked with being the runner for his father and carrying the banner when the command company rode out. This would see Felgrin gain his first war kill, another rider attacking the command company and getting the banner pole stabbed through his neck for his troubles.
The Bellegar Straight was a series of engagements with pirates operating in the Bellegar Straight, where they had made settlements along the Glauridh side to establish some farming and provisioning points as well as maybe settling down. Considering the nature of the pirates and their actions around the straights, the duke was awarded golden laurels for his frontal assault on the straight settlements and the execution of the pirates. The encounter was notable as the land army succeeded in destroying three pirate ships and capturing a fourth. The Prince was set to capture one of the pirate ships and was involved in it being set ablaze. He was credited with destroying that ship as well as felling several pirate officers.
The Muzammel Incursion was a two-year-long campaign waged against goblins descending form the Muzammel Highlands. While lacking serious organization, there were large numbers of goblins, and their raids covered large areas, forcing the Glauridh defenders to fight a wide-ranging highly mobile war to stop them. Prince Felgrin rode as a lieutenant with his own squadron of armored knights and cavalry and acquitted themselves as some of the best fighters of the war, eventually finding the lair of the goblins in the Muzammels, butchering the goblins, and ending the incursion.
The Prince has been involved in a different fight since returning home following his education in Terrasquestone. His mother and several other Grand Mothers of the Duchy have made it their personal mission to find the Prince a suitable Princess so that he can be wed, she can be bred, and the old duke can be quietly retired to spend his vitriol peacefully in the countryside, while his young and imminently capable son takes the ring and rod. The Prince is much less interested in being saddled with a wife, and then children, and then the weight of the duchy, certainly at least at his current age. He feels that this mantle of leadership is something that ruined his father, poisoning the relationships around the man, and making him the way he has become. The Prince is also still quite young and more interested in knightly errantry and finding a sacred quest.
What's in the Closet
Prince Felgrin is a member of the Brotherhood of Ash, and he has been diving into dungeons since he was ten. He has been functionally force-fed XP.
The Prince is recognized as the Sword and Shield Brother, as he affects an obelosian steel escutcheon emblazoned with a snarling monstrous face. His armor is likewise obelosian steel, also called darksteel or obelisk steel. This armor offers impressive protection and has several outstanding magical glyphs. The most potent is the Obfuscation Glyph, making the Sword and Shield Brother very easy to overlook. He doesn't stand out in a crowd when wearing the armor. The armor also has glyphs to protect it from elemental fire and ice attacks, as well as the unusual Animal Friendship glyph. Normal creatures are not bothered by the Prince. His sword is a remarkable weapon, being mirror-coated obelisk steel and marked with Mage Eater runes, allowing him to negate magic attacks with it, and deal hideous amounts of damage to abominations, magic creatures, summoned creatures, and the like.
The Prince is now a Senior Brother, and has occasioned to use his contacts to prevent two more wars his father would have pushed, and secretly financed the construction of walls around two villages, six merchant ships, and a cathedral in Glauridh.
