Ancient Amulet

Made of sandstone or similar sedimentary rock, the amulet is carved and enchanted to offer either limited protection from petrification, protection from curses, or a +1 or +2 to Wisdom.

Ancient Armlet

Made of sandstone or similar sedimentary rock, the armlet is carved and enchanted to offer either limited protection from petrification, protection from curses, or a +1 or +2 to Wisdom.

Ancient Belt

Typically made of broad leather taken from the hide of a catoplebas, cockatrice, or basilisk, the Ancient Belt typically has at least two abilities attached to it. These include but are not limited to a +2 to +3 bonus to Wisdom, Protection from Petrification, Protection from Curses, the ability to add a Wisdom bonus to Dexterity checks (wise men keep their balance)

Ancient Boots

Ancient boots are made of leather taken from the hide of a catoblepas, cockatrice, or basilisk. Unlike the belt, they are a lesser item and never have more than one ability. Said boots are almost always used to add the Wisdom bonus to Dexterity checks. Despite the name, these can be most any type of footwear, not automatically boots. They can be sandals, slippers, or the like.

Ancient Cloak

Ancient cloaks require a large amount of leather and are almost exclusively made from catoblepas, though a few very high-quality ones are made from basilisk hide. These cloaks are waterproof after proper treatment and oiling, and add +1 to +3 to Wisdom, and allow the wearer to add their Wisdom bonus to stealth, hiding, and related rogue skills that are not sleight of hand, theft, or similar activities.

Ancient Ring

Ancient rings are rare, and are made of fossilized remains polished and set into bronze. They are relatively simple despite the difficulty of making them, and almost all either offer +3 to Wisdom, or full protection from petrification.

Unique Ancient Accessories

Ancient Chatelaine

A chatelaine is a thin belt worn around the waist that holds a small pouch and the keys associated with a household. The Ancient Chatelaine was crafted for Canoness Superior Arabedes. The chatelaine has six specific stone keys, and each one activates a specific spell-like ability, but only for the duration that the key is held, none of the powers are passive or always active. The six powers are Stone to FleshStoneskinRemove Curse, Petrification, Animate Statue, and Mending. Arabedes used the chatelaine to turn monsters into stone, then animate their statues like lesser golems under her command. The other abilities improved her ability to fight monsters with petrification powers and save the lives of those who faced them and failed.

Ancient Chest Piece

Intended to be worn by a woman, this chest piece is a broad band of interlocked sedimentary stones, woven with silver wire, and polished to a mirror sheen. The cost of the thing would beggar many kings. Functionally it is a thirteen-pound necklace that covers the chest of the wearer. Commissioned by Empress Marthine du Graave, she would wear the chest piece and a sheer wrap when holding high court, meaning the Imperial court had a full view of her womanly attributes and the chest piece. The baroque necklace grants the wearer +5 to Wisdom, full protection from petrification, and Curses, and most impressively, allows the wisdom bonus to be added to any skill or ability check. The Empress was wise beyond her years and had a number of magic jewelry items she frequently wore. It is worth noting that du Grave was the last empress of the Braexynth Empire. Not because she brought it to ruin, but because she reigned for almost four centuries before stepping away from the throne. There were nine regents who followed du Grave, but none had the courage or ambition to reclaim the Imperial title, and eventually, the Braexynth Empire broke up and collapsed into the Eleven Kingdoms.

Ancient Mantle

The Ancient Mantle is a cloak made from the hide of a black dracolisk, a hybrid spawned from a black dragon and a greater basilisk. Crafted by and for Dirondir Tarrentail, the mantle has an +3 to defense/armor, +3 to Wisdom, protection from petrification, protection from acid, and allows the wearer to add their Wisdom bonus to charisma checks specifically for intimidation or coercion. After slaying the dracolisk and looting its hoard, Tarrentail skinned the beast, removed is valuable organs and stored them in jars, and then spent the next six months going to and from the lair to move all of the newfound treasure to his new home in the capitol. The mantle has become part of the regalia of House Tarrentail, a wise decision since many of Dirondir's offspring were impulsive and dumb.

Ancient Slave Bracelet

A slave bracelet is a bracelet that has a small chain or chains that connect to one or more rings worn on the same hand, thus the ring is enslaved to the bracelet. Zharraro Zaaz had the Ancient Slave Bracelet created to help maintain control over her actual slave barony in Greater Calcobrina. The artifact was made of black bronze, and the three rings slaved to the bracelet were magical before the forging. The resulting item gave her +8 to Wisdom, Mass Charm Person, Mass Geas, and Mass Control Undead. Ideally this would have allowed her to command slave armies, and with the aid of the Black Circle, amass and sally forth with corpse soldiers in the van. This did not happen, as that +8 to Wisdom caused Zaaz to have a major shift in personal alignment, a crisis of psyche, and an unexpected and dramatic change in demeanor and goals. Two weeks into her campaign to end slavery and forced conscription in her barony, she was assassinated by were-snake murderers and her body was dumped in an irrigation canal.
