7 Magic Schools

1-The Military Academy 

As long as there has been magic it has been used in warfare, and the Military Academy, East Point being one such example, is a magical institution dedicated to the teaching of military magic. From the easing of magical smokescreens and camouflage, to the use of fireballs, lightning and such forms of offensive magic, it is learned here.Discipline is very strict, and certain spells such as the dark practice of necromancy, are not taught as the laws of war generally tend to ban the use of such spells on the battlefield. Although what exactly is taught here is classified, the existence of the Academy is not, and is a source of national pride.

2-The Top Secret 

Hogwarts and places like it would fall into this category, the knowledge of magic itself being a complete secret, either because of fear of persecution or fear of what the average person would do if they learned magic. Often students have geas cast on them to keep their mouths shut about what they learn. St Searls is an unusual example of this, in that it takes in males in witness protection , magically turns them into girls and binds them with geas, hoping to use them in the long term to raise the next generation of wizards and witches in the future. If someone does somehow manage to snitch, he or she will be hunted down and killed or magically imprisoned.

3-The Crime School

This place is even more secret than somewhere like Hogwarts, with good reason, because the magic that is taught here is of the criminal variety. Spells of unlocking, spells that magically stupefy or bind and gag, love spells to turn someone into a loving boyfriend or girlfriend against their will, dark spells of necromancy or demon summoning and much more are taught here, and every term the school moves to a different criminal controlled location to lower the chances of a police raid or a band of “ good” wizards disrupting  things. Many an aspiring criminal who uses magic learned it here and put it to criminal use later. Snitches get murdered.

4-The Ivory Tower 

The existence of this place is no secret, and the Masters and student body are immensely proud of the place. This is the Oxford, Cambridge or Harvard of magic, where the cleverest and richest of the magic users are taught. Illegal magic like necromancy is banned and those caught casting such spells are expelled on the spot, but the place is not as strict as somewhere like East Point, nor does it normally use geas to keep it’s students in line, although the Masters and Proctors can cast them in an emergency. A successful graduate from here will almost certainly have a grand career ahead and earn a lot of money and respect.

5-The Secondary School 

So far all the magic schools have been elitist and often top secret as well, but there may be countries that don’t keep magic a secret and teach everyone magic, wizards and witches just being those who know more magic then anyone else. Here people are taught spells of finding, healing, how to safely fly a broomstick or magic carpet and other such stuff. Mundane it may be, but it is very useful at times. Of course, the dark or evil magic that has caused a lot of trouble is not taught in these schools, to keep the public safe. Some go on from here to places like the Ivory Tower and become true masters of magic, others have non magical careers, and an unlucky few end up homeless on the street.

6-Old Boney

Old Boney is a school for necromancy. Spells to speak with and bind the dead are taught here, and so are spells to raise Undead as skeletal remains or as corpses- or to put such Undead to a final rest.Students are carefully warned of the dangers of what happens when necromancy goes wrong. No one wants to be possessed, or have random free Undead wandering around murdering people. Depending on the country’s attitude to necromancy, Old Boney is either top secret, or an openly known about and respected university. Morticians have often learned at least part of their trade here.

7-Magical Medical School 

Magic can be amazing at healing, but it can also go very wrong. So this particular magical university teaches only different kinds of magical healing. Spells to reverse paralysis, close bleeding wounds, restore sanity and fight cancers. It is one of the most popular magical universities to try to join and many don’t make the grade, and unauthorised use of healing magic is normally a criminal offence.
