1-The Sawney Beane

The Sawney Beane runs an inn on one of the major roads that run to the Terraquestone Dungeon Core and on the surface, the innkeeper, his wife and their children are very pleasant and helpful people. Large groups of people are perfectly safe when they use the inn, but lone travellers and couples, particularly if Sawney finds they are planning to challenge the Dungeon, are sometimes quietly poisoned, or followed when they leave the inn and murdered, and their money, provisions and possessions stolen whilst their bodies are quietly buried in the nearby area in shallow graves.

2-The Nico

On the surface the Nico is an innkeeper, but the inn is mostly run by his deputies. Whilst it is a genuine inn which is a good place to stay with reasonable food, it is also a front for organised crime through which money is laundered, and the Nico is a made man and the captain of his own crime crew, an illegal money lender who also has a legal money lending business on the side, an extortionist and certainly not someone to get on the wrong side of, who has committed several unsolved murders in his life of crime.

3-The Posh

The Posh has no known links to organised crime, and his inn costs a lot of money. The food and wine are certainly worth the cost and the beds are known for their comfort. This is an inn for the upper middle class and the seriously wealthy people, such as traveling merchants, courtiers and famous people. If you have enough money, he’s not going to ask where it came from , but he does have a dress code for his inn. No shoes, no shirt, no service.

4-The Blind Eye

The inn of the Blind Eye is heavily rumoured to be frequented by highwaymen , footpads and other criminals. Either the Blind Eye is in league with them, or he is too afraid to do anything about them, or perhaps the rumours that his inn is a meeting place for organised crime are false or mostly false and spread by rival innkeepers to try and get him into trouble with the authorities and his inn shut down.

5-The Veteran

The Veteran is a former Sergeant Major whose sword hangs proudly above the bar, and he is a firm taciturn man who takes no nonsense and knows how to fight if necessary, serves plain but tasty food, and is not picked on by anyone as criminals seek easier targets who can’t or won’t fight back. He is tight lipped about his time in the army which feeds rumors that he may have been in the special forces. His inn is clean, spicy and span, and completely free of cockroaches and bedbugs.

6-The Smuggler

At the very least, the Smuggler buys barrels of brandy and beer from smugglers to avoid paying excise taxes, and he may well be involved in the illegal smuggling as well. Although most of what is smuggled is things like alcohol, illegal weapons and drugs have been smuggled as well and the smugglers are ruthless to suspected informants and anybody who they consider to be a threat to them. His inn is one of the better inns in the area.

7- The Bob Belcher

The Bob Belcher and his family make burgers at their inn with a burger of the day, and barely make enough money even with their burgers to pay the rent. What’s more a rumour has been going around the area that they are serving human flesh which is not helping their business in the least and might even lead to some very unwelcome attention from the local authorities. Despite this, they are managing just about to stay economically afloat at least for now.
