Vengeance

When the Reverend Fury had his old sword reforged, it was done for one purpose: to assist him in his quest to wipe the undead from the earth.

Vengeance is a very large sword that, while it looks very dangerous, does not show any signs of its singular purpose.  It started as the sword of Lord Tianus, passed down from generation to generation in his family, and had seen three wars.  After Tianus’s family was destroyed by a vampire, he had the blade reforged.  It was made stronger, sharper, better balanced, and was given a coating of silver.   Tianus, now calling himself Reverend Fury, renamed the sword and made it his primary tool for slaying the undead.  It proved to be excellent for this purpose.  The Reverend has destroyed numerous vampires and sundry other undead with it, and it may some day get a reputation as a legendary blade.  There is a stylized flame-and-sword symbol engraved into the blade near the hilt, and verses from The Book of Fury engraved into the hilt and pommel.  Like the book, the Reverend will never surrender the sword as long as he lives.

Magical Properties:


None, other than a finely crafted blade. After destroying enough dark creatures, it may develop a magic of its own… making it a thing of legend.

Another very useful, though not obviously magical item. This would fit in nicely with the 'heroic items' thread: http://www.strolen.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1460

It gains its power by the drive and motivation of its wielder, Reverend Fury, and thus it is greater at slaying undead than any other creature.

The party has found the source of the strange creatures roaming the countryside. The rift in this reality glows with a silver hue, rippling with the wind but never moving. They step through and are immediately assaulted with the scent of rotting meat, some have to muster all their strength not to vomit. Strange cries similar to the beasts the party had faced before can be heard in the distance. Looking around, they see they are in a forest of grey and red rather than the normal brown and green. The trees are sticky to the touch and writhe, perhaps to get away or perhaps as a warning. The deeper the party goes, the more the forest seems to slither and move underfoot. The cries get closer and more numerous. Creatures lurk in the shadows, all the same color of their surroundings. Whatever the party came in here for, they had better do it fast. The forest of flesh is waking up, and it is so very hungry.
