Drinen Forest

By:

Drinen Forest is a frightening, dark place.  Very few are foolish enough to venture into it, and fewer still return.  This is one of the Ten Most Dangerous Places in the world.

Drinen Forest is an isolated, godforsaken place.  The southern edge is bordered by the Great Dams, a range of near vertical cliffs that are said to hold back the forest.  It is perpetually twilight in the forest, and the animals are strangely silent.  Those who live at the periphery of the forest tell of a feeling of always being watched.  Those brave enough to venture a short ways in and strong enough to come back say that the forest feels very odd.  Sometimes the trees seem to move, and animals behave strangely.  Deeper into the forest, trees bend at unnatural angles and other plants grow to odd sizes.  Things get wierder the deeper into the forest one goes.  Animals begin to look terribly unfamiliar, and there are huge versions of some things.  There is an overwhelming feeling of oddness, almost like you’re looking at things through a looking glass.  Though this is not an overtly hostile place such as the Forbidden Jungle, no one EVER goes very deep into the woods.  The people who have gone the farthest say that in the center of the forest that could make a strong man die of fright.  No one who is considered sane lives in the forest, though there are some people who do.  Many say that the forest itself is always watching.  There are rumors of a legendary creature that lives in the center of the forest, called the Watchkeeper.  Some say the Watchkeeper is an otherworldly being.  Some say that it is the guardian of Drinen Forest.  Some think it is one of the old gods.  And some think it is nothing at all.

Perhaps there is a demon at the center of the forest and then only people who live within it are those who swear an oath to him to protect his warped forest. The people are a small collection of Druids who wish to live in peace with nature, even if it is a little distorted. They will prtect the forest to the best of their ability.

Well, it's not a malevolent place, just very, very weird.

BUMP!

It could need a few more details.

Yes, more details would strengthen it, as for now it seems to be a clip of Mirkwood.

A Killer in Town

       By: caesar193

A vicious murder happens in a town that the party happens to pop in at. Under heavy suspicion as they are strangers, the party is forced to discover the perpetrator or have their reputations blackened, especially as more and more murders occur in the town, and mysteriously stop and restart when the party leaves to go kill off that evil necromancer who kidnapped the princess.

The only problem is that a demon, possessing one of the party, is the perpetrator. And the demon makes no signs that its living in the PC's head.

In fact, for all the party knows (except for the possessed person's), their companion is an evil murderer.

Do they try and execute their friend as he's a vicious murderer, and no evidence points to demonic posession? Or do they flee town with him, trusting him, and have their reputations destroyed?
