Drinen Forest is an isolated, godforsaken place. The southern edge is bordered by the Great Dams, a range of near vertical cliffs that are said to hold back the forest. It is perpetually twilight in the forest, and the animals are strangely silent. Those who live at the periphery of the forest tell of a feeling of always being watched. Those brave enough to venture a short ways in and strong enough to come back say that the forest feels very odd. Sometimes the trees seem to move, and animals behave strangely. Deeper into the forest, trees bend at unnatural angles and other plants grow to odd sizes. Things get wierder the deeper into the forest one goes. Animals begin to look terribly unfamiliar, and there are huge versions of some things. There is an overwhelming feeling of oddness, almost like you’re looking at things through a looking glass. Though this is not an overtly hostile place such as the Forbidden Jungle, no one EVER goes very deep into the woods. The people who have gone the farthest say that in the center of the forest that could make a strong man die of fright. No one who is considered sane lives in the forest, though there are some people who do. Many say that the forest itself is always watching. There are rumors of a legendary creature that lives in the center of the forest, called the Watchkeeper. Some say the Watchkeeper is an otherworldly being. Some say that it is the guardian of Drinen Forest. Some think it is one of the old gods. And some think it is nothing at all.
