The Tear of Trigu

By:

"I’ve nearly found it! The fabled Tear is almost within my grasp. Tomorrow I will finish my trek across this barren wasteland…" ~Fragmented page of a journal found in the Blasted Lands

Full Item Description
A magnificent, rainbow-coloured, multifaceted gem just small enough to fit within both of your hands. It radiates an aura of power, yet peaceful action also seems appropriate around this artifact.

History
When L’ruhk, the Prince of Darkness, fell from grace and was annihilated down to all but the smallest piece of his existence, the Lord Creator Trigu shed a single tear of holiest purity. This tear fell to the ground in what is now the Blasted Lands, and the essence of purity that lay within it cleaned away the taint of Nether Energy that suffused the very air of that place, sanctifying and purifying the land itself.

Tears are legendary for their potency, with the tears of a mythical beast often capable of amazing feats of healing. How much more so with the Tear of the Creator? Thus, it should be no surprise that Creation itself rose up, molding and crafting the sacred ground around the Tear to offer protection from the world without.

And so the Tear sits to this day, protected by Creation herself. Woe be to the one who dares try to leave with it.

One thing you must realise is that there is no such thing as pure iron/steel these days. Iron/steel isn't nearly as strong now as it was in medieval times. However, with that said, iron in early medieval times was so soft you could hack right through a helm with a sword and leave a nice lil mark on the skull (depending on the grade of iron used on the sword and the helm, ofcaurse). After many hundreds of years of fine tuning, however, the only use the sword had was to puncture the plate. That was very difficult, however, since the grade of steel was so hard... only blunt instruments and weighted axes had any use against plate armor in later medieval times. Makes me wonder why rapiers were so popular then and why less people wore plate (Other than it's obsene costs... a nice suit of armor would cost as much as a nice lexus does now... and a kings suit would be as much as a rols royce).
