Quite entertaining! I loved the poetry bit! Wish i wrote it. I'd use him with that 'dark twist' plotline you suggest.

Had to look up Hebephrenic, which was fun. Go to Comment

Now this is cool, nothing quite like a flaming spectre to ruin your day, and add in beaurocratic stockpiling and missed maintenance, and a brilliant mad nutter... What's not to like? Go to Comment

I missed this one, thanks go to cheka for HoHing  so I can make a comment. I disagree with Lockheed, I think you balanced styles perfectly. Good job on this one. A splendid read.

Checka is right, it does have a strong "Ghostbusters" feel to it, the negative Ecto-Weapon to the Ghostbuster positive ecto weapon.

But this is a really fun read and the pose is chunky, overly complex, clever and enjoyable to digest. \

Really very good. Go to Comment

I'm of two minds about this one. Much of the description and writing style is really awesome and enjoyable. And the weapon shoots flaming ghosts at people. Which is sweet. Thats the good stuff.

On the other hand, some of your stylistic choices don't fit well with the piece, like all the pseudo-biblical "many were his factories" bits. Its a touch on the purple side, and seems out of place. It also feels goofy and ghostbusters in some places but not in others, which makes the goofiness feel strange and uncomfortable. Its like you weren't sure wether to make the thing hilarious and fun, the type of thing to make PCs snort with glee as they blast baddies with it or solemn and cool, the type of thing that makes a PC feel like a total badass.

I really like the idea though, and a "precursor technology" version is sure to find its way into an upcoming campaign. Go to Comment

Very interesting weapon that can quite easily corner the market. I can picture seeing it in a d20 game too. How about adding a few rival companies who produce their own version of the weapon? Go to Comment

I hear the Ghostbusters theme song playing in the background. And that's a good thing. steampunk/clockpunk themed ghostbusters spring into my brain.

Have a five for a new take on an old favorite (of mine.) An old dog with some radical new tricks.

Now lets throw Bill Murray in some chainmail and go demon-busting.

No hurrying has paid off and I could savor parts of it over several days. Great work!

What I like is, though they may be solitary, you get a feel of the community of these long-living creatures. At times it felt almost officious, which didn't feel quite right, but all other elements are in sync. All the expected ones and all the exceptions, they are brief and full of substance. Me likey. Sweet work! Like Manfred I have enjoyed this during the span of several days. It is not always in line with my vision of treemen which would be darker and more alien. But it is a well presented, usable and well written submission and we don't have too many of those these days!

I agree with Cheka here. This is how I like the 30's - each rich with potential. I know this is a step beyond the original definition of the 30s, but I like these better.

Well done Echo! Go to Comment

Minor Cultural Modifier: The culture believes, for the soul to leave the body, the corpse' eyes must be open. So any member of that culture takes care any dead body they find has its eyes open. Doubly true for those they kill themselves, for then the corpse will surely rise as an undead hunting him.
