The Vanishing Diner

While enjoying a meal in the local tavern, the party strikes up a conversation with another customer, who is witty and urbane.

Several times during the meal, the customer takes action that ensures that others know of his presence (he asks someone to pass the salt, etc.).

The party agree to meet with the customer the next day in the same tavern, at which point the customer promises to relate some information that would interest them.

The next day, however, the customer never shows. When the party inquires about him, they are told by everyone that the customer didn't exist; that the party never interacted with anyone but themselves.

One of the party members finds something that conspicuously belonged to the customer.

Sounds like the intro to a Supernatural adventure, could use a bit more fleshing out however. :)

True. As it stands it is pretty simple and bare-bones, but enough to add a little fun/mystification to the campaign; supernatural or otherwise :)

Same as Val. A very versatile utility sub but would be interested in author vision as well.

I think this is a great idea because of how versatile it is. It could be a supernatural event. It could be some local mage messing with the memories of the staff that explains their memories. Or maybe it's related to either the local thieves' guild or even a "spy" adventure.

The "item" left behind doesn't even have to be an item. Maybe there was a dropped glass of wine that left a stain on the floor, or a hole left behind when a knife stuck was stuck in the table.

Anyway, I thought it was an excellent entry.
