The Greens of The Colors
By: MoonHunter

The Greens are a group of balance between the Colors, the factions of Blue and Yellow.

Blues and Yellows of The Colors are starting to gain in presence at Court. Both have "radical" agendas in the eyes of most of the Court. They are also forcing people to choose sides. Not choosing is beginning to have serious consequences, some of them have been quite violent. Duels are being fought by Blues and Yellows. Most recently, an elderly lord, who had the misfortune of wearing the wrong color at the wrong time, was challenged and killed. The Lord was not being political, he was simply wearing a gift from his daughter.

So a Lady of the Court (Lady Julia is a good fit) who was tired of both their dangerous politics and the fact that one could not wear yellow or blue without expressing a political opinion that could get one challenged to a duel arranged a clever little protest. She managed to a good many of the court who were not color faction members to wear Green to an important and public Court Event. (And to everyone’s amazement, she managed to get a handful of the more reasonable color members to join in.). It is now fashionable to wear Green at court.

Aside: Master Simonus might make an excellent tool of the Greens, bumbling his way to success.

The Colors have gotten the message and have backed down from active agendas. However, her protest has taken on a life of its own. A new Color has risen, The Greens. The Greens basically oppose both The Blues and The Yellows. They wish to support the Status Quo, no matter who becomes King. They are also acting to thwart any activities The Colors are taking. The Green’s activities are beginning to interfere with general court business, as any normal politicing done by a Color is often seen as Color Business.

There are always factions at Court. These “teams” are color coded for your convience. However, it is not always good to wear your affiliations on your sleeve.

Lady Julia By: MoonHunter
NPCs » Minor » Political

She is a spitfire of the Court. She is smart, sassy, and well versed. She fights for female (and other beings) rights at the court. She works hard to promote “smart” planning in the court. She may advance the cause of rationality and women’s rights, but she will set fashion back a few decades.

Master Simonus By: MoonHunter

Simonous has a sardonic wit which often escapes out of his mouth at the wrong times. Given all the touchy nobles and honor bound knights in the Three Districts, this could be a lethal problem given that dueling is legal. This twitchy unassuming young noble would appear no physical threat. Yet in reality he is one of the most dangerous duelist in the Three Districts.

Everything is balanced out. Blues vs Yellows, then Blues and Yellows vs Greens. It puts the court into play.

Lady Julie is kind of fun. She is my next character.

This is a great way to counter act the brinksmanship all too often associated with politics. With the addition of Moderates to balance two two extremes of the political system, the situation becomes slightly more stable since the lines of battle are no longer clear, especially in the light of some of the Colored donning the Green.

Love politics. Fits in perfectly with something I'm doing in a campaign right now!

It would be nice if the Greens were the current zeitgeist in the States today! The Greens need Ralph Nader!!

Moon's entire "Colors" set of posts is a very good look at a sort of renaissance or medieval politics... I'll be using them, probably in a different way, though. :D

Updated Links.

While this is attached to the Magenta Rose Cluster of submissions, this (and the Blues and Yellows) are completely independent as well, being "plug and play" in any High Noble's court you want.

It's only a matter of time before some guy in court comes in with a red headband or something, shouting communist slogans.

Sigh.

Our Barbarian Horde needs to read:
Blues and Yellows of The Colors Which explains why it is Green that should be worn.
and maybe, he should read
Young Lord Renly, because if there ever was a man who could be a communist in this little situation, it would be him. And a proper communist, not any of this Stalinistic crap. He would follow The Ideal, and make it happen. Take that you dialectic.

Of course, the Barbarian Horde, and the rest of you, needs to read
Magenta Rose and Court of the Magenta Rose

I know basilisks are immune to the gaze of other basilisks, but imagine if they weren't. Like the panda they would become ecologically unviable and endangered... There are two large stones on the thinly wooded hillside above Tiringan. It is said that two basilisks surprised each other many years ago and fell in love at first sight. They also turned to stone at first sight. A local legend of star-crossed lizards: very moving.
