Killikra

By:

If you can see the bones, you're already dead.

Within the deepest jungles of Garo Tai dwell many strange, exotic creatures. Some are known for their bright coloration, delicious meat, or their vicious demeanor. This creature is in the last category.

A Killikra is a strange creature, and difficult to classify. Its closest relatives are Reptilian, but this monstrosity seems far removed from any such animal. It is eight feet tall, with four arms and two legs, normally standing in a manner similar to an ape. One pair of arms is very large, used for locomotion and combat, while its smaller, inner arms are used for holding food and fine manipulation. It possesses a carapace that encompasses most of its body, shielding itself from blows that would kill most other animals. It has four jaws, two vertical, resembling a normal mouth, and two horizontal, almost serving as cheeks. Perhaps its most notable feature, it completely lacks eyes, instead relying upon two forms of Echolocation. The first is used for running and moving quickly through the jungle, sounding like a reverberating whooping that carries for quite some distance. Te other is a barely audible clicking, produced by moving its horizontal jaws back and forth in rapid succession. This is used for hunting, stalking prey, and has the added benefit of causing disorientation in most creatures' inner ear, leaving them dizzy and unbalanced.

Patterns in surnames: There are many ways a surname could have evolved over centuries. One possibility is migration. A Roman name may have traveled to France and hence to England where it was later Anglicized. Case in point - the surname Lawrence went from Laurentius (Roman) to Laurent (French) to Lawrence (English) and then to Lowry (Scottish). There is also natural etymological evolution. For example, a Middle English spelling may have evolved to a modern English spelling (e.g. Stiward to Stewart). Where did your character's Surname come from?
