Kerchief Blade

By:

This discreet and stylishly concealable weapon is quite capable of cleaning up its own mess.

For many servants, there comes a time when the master’s life or interests must be protected against those who would cause him harm, in one fashion or another. In many of these occasions, a sturdy blade is indispensible in the tending. Unfortunately, it is quite poor in taste and fashion for one’s non-military servants to be visibly armed. For those occasions, the priests and followers of the Serving Lord have developed and produced a relatively simple enchantment, one that can be attached to almost any sword of reasonable size.

Though these blades vary widly in quality and make, they share one visible trait: All have a square of cloth, about 8 inches to a side, embroidered with a complex pattern of silver threads, attached to the pommel or the end of the hilt by a silver cord. All of these squares are identical, the cloth carrying this enchantment seperate from the weapon, and any enchantment it may bear.

Magical Properties:

The powers of the hankerchief themselves are quite simple. When folded, they function much similarly to bags of holding, allowing the user to slip the blade inside of the folds of the cloth, hiding it quite elegantly in a front pocket or sleeve. Because the blade must fit through the folds, it is difficult to impossible to store very large weapons inside, and although the occasional spear or claymore type weapon is stowed, short swords and rapiers are generally the order of the day.

Secondly, the hankerchief is easily capable of handling minor messes created by the blade it is attached to. While it won’t make a corpse or a pile of insides go away, it will pull the blood up from the master’s carpet and furniture quite easily, as well as from the servant’s suit.

Exceptionally enchanted weapons, especially those that are intelligent, may get quite upset about getting stuffed in someone’s snotrag. So too, can the enchantment of the cloth and the blade interact in unexpected ways. Then again, they might not.

I would like to say this is a wonderful post. It is a practical item that you could see being enchanted. It gives you an echo of the world (followers of the Serving Lord (god of servants) and noble style (weapon type, image importance, etc), without making it world dependent. All in all I give it two thumbs and a tail up.

I can understand how the blade can be concealed in the kerchief, I can only imagine the flaws some of the prototypes and knock-offs might have. Who wants to blow thier nose and get a blade jammed a couple of inches into thier face?

I really like this item. Weapons are a good default use, but more immediately pop out for me.

-Smuggling any number of items. Could have an entire box of napkins with untold amounts of stash.
-Thieves. Carry tools, poisons, etc, and put it folded in the bottom of their shoe or in their sock and it would be very hard to detect, even if searched.
-Couriers for the king of important transcripts/messages.

Great item with LOTS of possibilities.

Some interesting points, Strolen. When I dredged this up out of memory, I was thinking style far over substance

For those that would want to keep this from becoming just another form of bags of holding, consider: These are expensive, compared to a more normal bag. The combination of materials of construction and far more complex enchantment means at least an order of magnitude of cost.

More, one may wish to emphasize the silver tether - without it, items may stand a chance(or be guaranteed!) to get lost in 'napkin space'.

I honestly didn't even think of the bag of holding concept. I was thinking of more elegant uses then just another...style over substance is aptly put. This is, indeed, in a league of its own.

This is a pretty one.

Will we ever learn more of the Servant Lord, of the religion's doctrine, or the powers it conveys?

Tambourine

       By: Yokima.van.zephrill

Tämbourine is firmly placed on my back ,to unsheathe this sword I simply have to say "re clouse" meaning come to me or i can just reach over and unsheathe it the old fashioned way. This sword was created to my liking tambourine is made of raw-like metals I found in different regions as I begun to forge the metals together, I’ve noticed that the raw metal materials were different pieces to a wide variety of swords that were used the past and present, being so most blades have a sheer grey texture Tambourine’s blade became black as the depths of the oceans. The blade expands to 6” which weighs 426lbs the sapphire jewel placed on the tip of hilt (upper middle center of the base) it emits a aura texture of purple which weighs 24lbs the jewel is un-breakable it negates magic for tambourine has a mind of its own only belonging to me it finds a worthy opponents who doesn’t use magic or any type of power to their liking which I can agree with(who would want an opponent that abuses their powers to kill for no reason or to avoid dying by honor tambourine fights with honor and accepts its glory or defeat) I’ve named the sapphire Sophia because not only that its rare and radiant it resembles my burning passion for my love Sophia. I made the hilt to be a length of 15 inches its frame is created with fine katchin (very thick and heavy metal) it alone weighs 50 pounds its texture is black like mixture of, I made it to be a cruciform hilt so it has room for two hands. I I made the blades hilt aprox. 2”, the blade is double-edged but the left side of the swords frame can block and or negate ones attack if needed, it weights 500lbs making it nearly unmovable. To go up against this sword is to quickly find your own death. Tambourine is a twin sword to Terra.
