Fumbler's Cuffs
By: Pieh

Fandune screamed as the inmate’s hands locked around his neck. With quick thinking and a little luck he managed to mutter the right words and waggle his fingers perfectly for the curse. The inmates fingers bent back upon themselves and were rendered useless.

Full Item Description
Fumbler’s Cuffs are a pair of well-made iron manacles connected by a short solid chain. They seem to be rather ordinary, but the guards smile as if there was something more to them…

History
Fandune "Fumbler" Gorgonhaeger was a bumbling young wizard’s apprentice. His duties included tending to the prisoners of the wizard’s tower. They were various would-be looters and other dangerous people. One day he was attacked by an inmate. While the inmate was attempting to strangle him, Fumbler managed to curse the inmate’s manacles with a minor Rubberfingers curse. Luckily, Fumbler escaped with his life and a grand idea…

He would curse tons of iron manacles and sell them to prisons and bounty hunters all over the world!

Cursed Properties
The manacles cause just the wearers fingers to become rubbery and practically useless. If one tries to pick the lock with the rubbered fingers they will most likely fail without large amounts of skill and some luck.

For some odd reason, or perhaps by purpose of Fumbler, the curse is negated and the manacles are even easy to remove while your hands are completely submerged in salt water.

From 30 Curses 3. Rubberfingers

The joints and tendons in the victims hands become more flexible and soft. As a result, the hands cannot apply much strength to any task. Similarly, complicated actions such as spellcasting may also suffer penalties.

I like it. Quirky and usable. Like most of your stuff. You make short, good.

As to Curse # 3, I know a few people who have that dead-fish kinda handshake. Now i realize that they suffer from Rubberfingers.

Now that is cute! Just the perfect way to make the prisons safer (and earn some cash for the lesser enchanters).

Maybe the spell was cast with a phrase "until you weep", or something like that... making tears and salty water the countermeasure.

How can I not like this one. I still need to fix that list of curses with a few more original ones...

"It is said that among those people they have a loathsome custom- that they keep a spotted dog always waiting beside the gate of the yard where they bury the dead, and that in every funeral they allow this spotted dog to feast upon the dead, so that it grows fat and wise with the knowledge of the dead... Many necromancers do seek out these spotted dogs, and ask of them sciomantic knowledge, or take them as familiars." -Author unknown, "The Ways of the Necromancers"
