It appears to be a very nice holy book of the dominant good faith, the kind that his passed down from generation to generation. The binding is leather and quite plain, but the inside is nicely scribed and occasionally illuminated.

Magic/Cursed Properties
Written over the lovely holy words are diabolic sutras and scripture and commands in ShadowInk. In the most diabolic books, spells of demonic summoning are inscribed. These writings are invisible and undetectable by most means, so these secret words slowly infiltrate the mind of any reader, slowly seducing them to their baser needs. The more the book is read or studied, the more the diabolic lines are unknowingly imprinted upon the mind of the reader. It is a slow corrupting process, but an effective tool against the hypocritcal followers of the dominant religion.
