Followers of Gotruis

By:

The day passes again. I have recorded the passing of time for half my life. I have recorded the attempts of each of the three hordes of Corrupted to try and breach our sanctity with calm ease. I have watched the brother of my God try vainly attempt to bring down these walls with his misguided followers. The world will know the true history, even if I give my life for the truth.

- Khoal - Scribe of the Order, Watcher of Gotruis

The Followers of Gotruis also known as the Watchers of Day -

Gotruis keeps a constant vigil on the populace of Hewdamia and is constantly using them in his struggle for supreme rule over the skies. He is viewed as one of the rising suns in the sky. Gotruis looks to the Gison as the mortals he favors the most. He is at constant odds with his brother Perteum, and while members of each faith respect the other’s deity they respect each other accordingly and are often found defending themselves from the others followers. They are more tolerant of the other faith.

Gotruis was one of the original Gods born in the Heavens. He calmed the chaos as the world could begin forming life. Now however, he rarely involves himself in the dealings of mortals feeling they should strive to be better without his intervention. He is withdrawn and reclusive, only involving himself when the other Gods attempt to cause havoc in the world. He is loved and worshiped by many mortals for his gift of peace and law. He is a patient God to those who he sees as being worthy and heavy handed who harm or betray his name. Gotruis is seen as the Law in the Universe, where his brother Perteum is seen as Chaos. He and his brother are in a constant conflict as to what the other does. They are constantly undoing each others plans of what happens in Hewdamia and to the mortals that inhabit it.

Doctrine - The Followers of Gotruis are protective by nature trying to uphold the tenants of Law and Peace. They will normally be in position to affect law and peace, preferably government, law enforcement, or military type of offices.

Major Religious Centers -

Breakdown of the religious Order - The priesthood is extremely informal yet very organized. It consists of three Covens; Apostles, Devoted, and the Watchers. Gotruis’s followers do not discriminate the sexes because everyone is seen as having equal worth.

Apostles are a group of followers that are the true Clerics of the religion. They stay in their temples and churches and study and pray and pass the word of Gotruis to those who would listen. They know the hidden secrets of the religion and powers that most thought forgotten. They are strong in their devotional powers, but aloof in their worldly appearance. They will emerge if the need is great, and only if Gotruis wishes them to take part in the events.

Devoted are a large group of followers that travel the world trying to undue all of the other religions work and set the world right, at least what they think is right under Gotruis. They will fight and purge the evils of the world if necessary. Those of this Coven are the ones most likely to fall from grace from the eyes of Gotruis because of the ways that they must learn while living in the outside world. Those that do not fall from grace, often become the Saints of the sect.

Watchers are probably the smallest and most reclusive group of followers that Gotruis has. They sit back and watch silently as the world unfolds before their eyes. The watch, record, and through prayers, report what they see to Gotruis. Rarely will a player character be a Watcher.

Interesting. I like the name a lot, as well as the titles and stations of the order. A little short, but tells what you need to know.

While setting up camp for the night, the PC's are aproached by another group of adventurers who seem nice enough. The road is somewhat dangerous and the other group suggests camping together. The two bands split watches, one adventurer from each group watching at once. The night goes by without incident, the next day the PC's travel with the other group as they are going the same way.

The group consists of Hordel the ranger, who is skilled with the bow. Hordel is a quiet man who speaks little but appears quite skilled. Dremar is a barbarian who is a little excentric, he seems to be an excasive drinker and thiunk that battle is the solution to everything. He appears to be a stout and powerful fighter with his greataxe. Ferrin is the leader of the group, a rouge by trade. He is daft and witty, speaking with the PCs often and asking many questions. He fights with finesse with his rapier. Preminitat as a cleric but he will not say which god he worships. He uses his spells to empower and heal his party and fights with a club. He sticks close to Ferrin. Ferrin is a great talker and tells much of himself and his party, but asks even more about the history and capabilities of the PCs. He tells of some adventures his party has had, and they seem like an interesting group of mercenaries. Hordel is quite and has little interest in speaking with the PCs, he ignores most questions. He spends a lot of time with Dremar and sometimes Ferrin. Dremar seems to not care about any questions ansked to him, nor does he seem to know the answers. He seems battle hardened and is a simple man. Preminitat rarely starts conversations but will speak with the PCs. However, some of his accounts of the party's history seem to condradict those of Ferrin.

The Party spends another night and day with Ferrin's group. One of four things can happen on the third night.
1: While eating dinner around the fire, Ferrin gets into an argument with one of the PCs when he/she mentions the discepincies between Ferrin's stories and Preminitat's.
2: Hordel gets mad after repeated questioning about his life from the PCs.
3. Preminitat gets mad after repeated questioning from the PCs about what god he worships.
4: One of the PCs rejects the offer of a drink from Dremar and he takes it as an insult.
All of these scenarios result in a battle between the parties. If Ferrin's party is defeated and still lives he swears vengance. His party may then cross paths with the adventurers again.
