....and Aramax called to the void invoking the blight to besiege the Citadel. His words grew in fury as his arms flailed in a complex pattern of growing insanity while his incessant chant grew the invite portal of beckoning, "Ebon Hearted Soul."  And from the Barbarian Horde arose such a clatter that the Citadel climbed the ramparts to see what was the matter. We flew to the tower in a flash and opened the murder hole in a crash as the portals glow cast a luster of mid-day to the no-man's land below where he stood.

And so he has cometh. He who has been foretold.

Fields of Challenge / Pro-Market Push 2019

Hello People Who Like to Write,

As the 5th issue of the epub moves to a close, it is time to start thinking about new writing projects.  I would like to propose another collaborative writing project.  I would like us to workshop stores with the goal of submitting them to pro markets in January of 2019. Between September and the start of December, stories will exist in a workshop folder. There other members of the community can comment and make suggestions. In December, I will bring in copy editor and we will all make an effort to get our stories in tip-top shape before we submit them in 2019.  We will make sure your story is in the correct format and we will assist you in the submission process.

Let me know if you are interested.
Freeform Roleplaying / The Great Bug War

We don't talk much about the Great Bug War, but it was the most apocalyptic event in human history.

When we met the bugs, there was the greatest misunderstanding in galactic history, and it could not have been worse. What actually happened doesn't matter anymore, just the outcome.

For close to one hundred and seventy years the full might of humanity was bent to the task of exterminating the Bugs. To the bugs, this was unfathomable. If they lost a contested area, they would withdraw, and establish a new border. This was how they dealt with other aliens, the ones they didn't overrun and devour. The strong they built against and expanded elsewhere. They did not understand the primal fury and hatred that burns in the heart and mind of post primate humanity.

We came at them in great numbers. When they fell back we launched new crusades against the worlds and stars they held.

We fought them for worthless rocks, for green and blue jewels, for stars with nothing around them belts of rubble and dust.

Once the bugs accepted that Humanity would not leave them alone, would not back down, they defended themselves. They launched their own counter-crusades, attempting to bury us under the weight of their numbers.

On Ursa Luna, it is said that the bug host was so great that it blotted out the sun and cast the human contingent in darkness. We responded with fusion and plasma weapons so brilliant and powerful that we turned their dread night into fiery noon.

In the war, there was no man left behind. There were no wounded veterans coming home, the only heroes were those who died in battle. Each soldier sought to take as many bugs with them. Damaged starships would engage their jumpdrives at close range, plowing into Bug bases, even Bug worlds at the speed of light. Mecha and fighters that were rendered unable to fight would detonate their power cores, burning holes in the Bug host. Billions died, trillions of bugs died.

The crescendo came as we found their homeworlds. They fell back in their teeming masses, and prepared to fight us, but it was a ruse. We dropped weapons into their home stars, and caused the stars to brew up and explode in demi-novas. Worlds were burned to the mantles, starships trapped in the starsystems were carbonized by the stellar fury.

We came upon them at their strongest, and we bled them. They cut us back, but it didnt matter. We broke them. We burned their worlds. We slaughtered their children, boiled their spawning pools, and left nothing but ashes and corpses behind.

One question: can Blue or Jerome do any custom programming on the mom-bots? Is there any whiz kid in the Interzone who can do so?

Greetings , Aramax suggested I join here so blame that cad for me bringing my blight upon you all!

Anyway ... time to be serious fora moment . I am a Hooli-Geek from Hillsboro, OR USA. I grew up playing AD&D & then reffed Cyberspace for awhile till I took a nearly seven year hiatus from gaming. I jumped back in with 3.5 D&D and then moved to a Rolemaster 2 campaign. I played in a few more modern supernatural based games (Angel/Buffy & WoD Changeling:tL) during that period as well. I got back into reffing with 5e D&D and Rolemaster united play-test based campaign, which in part led to my old group imploding & me embracing rules-lite Old School roleplaying via OD&D and the OSRs.

I love creating settings - usually non-traditional in nature & inspired in part by Talislanta. I do harbor a strong interest in running a Glorantha based campaign using RuneQuest but I still plan to run OD&D based campaigns in various genres or genre mash-ups if given the opportunity.

i love Metal, Punk/Hardcore, Hip Hop & 80s Goth/Deathrock music and I am a fan of manga/anime, American independent & European comics.

You should work on this again. Talk about a creative undertaking. Sounds like it could be a video game.

Awesome Muth.

As a matter of fact, I am rereading them during my bouts with insomnia this past month myself. It has been many, many years since I last read them and I was ready for a reread just to experience the ending again. Plus the magic system and world building with it is probably the most complex and rewarding I have ever read. I am 1/3 into book 3 at the moment and am biting at the bit to get to the end but will be sad when I do.
