The Nightsky over Kerren is fairly basic.

One Moon, smaller than Terra"s moon, but closer.
The Lunar Cycle/ Year is 30 days. The Lunar day is 10.
That means the face of the moon changes visably over the night and the period of the moon from new to full and back again is 30 days

There will be one planet close enough that you can see it most summer nights to be nearly moon bright.  It is a red planet like Mars.  Some people call it Mars, others call it Eye (or DragonEye).

There should be bright star bands... they can see the Milky Way in a way that no one on Earth/ Terra could see if for over 150 years. The night sky should be intensly bright.. as they don't have the smoke of the industrial revolution and industry since to blight the sky.

One day is 22 terrestial hours.
One cycle/ Year is 340 Kerren Days.
That would make the seasons ever 85 days.
Axis tilt is a mere 7 percent so the seasons are not severe in their change

There is 12 months. Most months have 28 days, except every 3 months which have 29.  The 12 months are named after the 12 Terran Months.

Weeks are 10 days. You can tell the day of week by the face of the moon.

Kerren time is non metric time that most players are familiar with. There are 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, 60 seconds in a minute.  The catch is that Kerren seconds are .91 seconds.  You won't notice it unless you have a Terran time piece or are using the computer.


So this is not neat like so many fantasy worlds. However, what in the real world is.

Landing Day: This is the day the ship came to land on Kerren. It is a day of general thanksgivings, getting together with families, new beginings (and forgiving people), and presents.  June 12   Thank you Manfred

Days of the Ship: Any time between the colony being set up to 25 years after they arrived. The ship's resources had all been used up by that date.  (Onterio's Taming of Dragons occurs about 15 years after landfall).

Founding Day: Each Warren/ Ward has its own founding day. Some free clusters and villages have their own founding day. It is a day that there is some kind of traditional party and silly game they play. It could be a kite contest, it could be mountain climbing, log rolling, or dodging the stampeding herd of GIP (like running of the bulls except slower).

Solsticetide: July 1.  This is the Summer holiday on the longest day of the year, the Summer solstice. Generally an excuse to drink and dance.  Technically it happens twice a year. July 1st for the Northern hemisphere and Jan 1 in the southern.  

There are a number of fairs and tournaments in each area.  The Grand Tournament, held at Firstdown, is the last week of June and often includes Solsticetide. The Grand Tournment is the Big One.  You have to have one a regional tournament to compete in this huge event. This event hosts dozens of wings competing in a variety of events, and other county fair like events occur.
