There was a very prominent German banking family in the 15th-16th century called the Fuggers. It's pronounced pretty much exactly as it looks. The most famous was Jakob "the Rich" Fugger. When I teach my AP Euro kids about them, no one can stop giggling the whole time.
I'm waiting for questions about Barbara Baesinger-Fugger, the matriarch of the Fugger family. She managed the family business after her husband's death, but did not hand control of finances until her own demise. Which raises the question: Was she one bad mother Fugger?
