This was suicide, pure madness. But one thing Maxine knew for sure, when you're in this deep, you better commit. "Javier, if I die, make sure to send my family and Jacob my regards." She told the LAI through gritted teeth.

Maxine zig-zagged with her boosters like a figure skater towards the open top tanks firing supressingly all the while, once she reached them she took a sharp turn to the furthest out one and grabbed it hoping to lift and throw it onto the two other closest ones.

Not sure if I should do a check or something, no idea what to roll.

"Thank you Miss Carlyle," Marsha replied to her LAI's assessment, the arrival of the tanks cutting any further response short.

With a nod of determination she  jinked her mecha into a sharp forty five degree forward step, angling her hand held 90mm cannon to unleash a shot at the nearest tank, her shoulder Mounted AC5 swiveling to lay down fire at the most distant one as she spared a glance out her side view port to track the dispersion of her lance.

In case rolls are needed:
(21:28:48) Minion: Silveressa rolls 1d100 and gets 17.
(21:28:53) Minion: Silveressa rolls 1d100 and gets 30.
And like every other pbp game I play on Strolens, I prefer low being good if the choice is available.

Cobain's Hatchetman vaulted into the air, trailing smoke from the jump jets, and fire from the rotary cannon. Shells raked across the line of tanks, sending showers of sparks flying as a few rounds were deflected by armor plating, and a few of the crewmen manning the open topped vehicles revealed themselves as crew droids by the way they shredded apart in clouds of plastic and burning debris. A few demonstrated their more organic nature by the clouds of blood released as standard high explosive rounds passed through them and then detonated inside the armored bucket top of the tanks. Cobain stuck the landing as his Hatchetman came down hard on one of the tanks in the line, the open top crumpled like a cheap can, but the hull remained intact, but the suspension was shattered, and the vehicle buried into the ground.

Heavier round exploded against the front armor of the row as Sanchez made her attack, her Wolverine spitting out a volley of 3 inch shells. She reached the line and. The Wolverine grabbed one of the flanking tanks, the mechs fingers dislocating the track segments and busting out several of the road wheels, and then flipped the vehicle over on it's side (OOC - if the Wolverine had both hands free I would say yes to a tank throw, but since it is still carrying the autocannon, going to just flip it over instead, awesome visual and very fitting BTW).

Stressor, leading Redshirt and Stormtrooper, picked off the few tanks in the defensive line that weren't stomped, flipped over, or shredded by the other mechs. It wasn't glorious or the sort of thing the holovids wanted, but after Cobains aerial assault, there wasn't much that could be done that would match that level of guts.

The towers on the pre-con base rotated, bringing their guns to bear on the flaming row of tanks and the Federation mecha that had just trashed them. Two towers unloaded with standard autocannons (Towers A and B - 2 AC-5 autocannons) Sending a rain of shells down on the attacking mechs. The third tower sparked a few times before discharging a brilliant energy beam that sent canopies polarizing dark to keep their pilots from being blinded (Tower C - 1 Particle Cannon). Amane's (Redshirt) Wolverine took the hit from the beam weapon. The shoulder assembly and side torso vaporized under the intensity of the beam. His machine shuddered as electrical systems blinked on and off as surge protectors, capacitors and other electronics attempted to deal with the massive surge of energy that had just pulsed through the machine.

(in two turns Amane will be rebooted, and back in the fight, albeit with damage to the shoulder of his mech, decreased accuracy. Older mecha can have problems dealing with high energy weaponry and associated power surges from being hit by them)

Derek did not hesitate, but turned his weapons on the particle beam tower while moving sideways. The pair of lasers and the muzzle blast of his own autocannon adding to the brilliant display.

He sweated as the temperature of the cabin noticeably increased with all the weapons fire.

what is the structure of the towers? Open framed? Solid Concrete?  Need to know if they are axworthy.

Hounddog chirped in as the rotary chewed away at the armor on the towers. 'These Pre-cons are fabricated from a variety of materials, but thus far, none of the armor composites deployed by the Command have proven to be than an inconvenience for our hatchet. Visually, looks like conventional slab over a reinforced ferroplastic superstructure, bulky, but cheap.'

Maxine turned the wolverine, ran towards the building, croached and pressed up against the wall out of sight of the towers, she then fired at the exposed undercarriage of the flipped over tank, hoping to hit a fuel tank to clear away any possible survivors.

Her palm sweaty on the joystick. "Still alive..." She kept repeating.

Marsha blinked at the sudden lens flare and darkening of her cockpit, the cannon shells a cacophony of nose as they hammered into her mecha. "Inform me if that PBC takes an interest in us as it;s next target," She told her LAI as she dropped her mech onto one knee, letting the momentum slide her to atop a dozen meters or so later. With a quick press of buttons she slaved her shoulder cannon to her hand held 90mm cannons aiming point, hoping concentrated fire would have the desired effect.

Raising the cannon she took time to aim at tower A, hoping to quickly take the AC's out of action before they could pin down her lance and chew away enough of their armor to start inflicting serious damage.

In case you need some dice rolls for her next shot or two:
(19:02:39) Minion: Silveressa rolls 1d100 and gets 61.
(19:02:45) Minion: Silveressa rolls 1d100 and gets 31.

The air was filled with as much autocannon fire as it was with EM jamming. The flipped over tank didn't explode, but by the way the machine belched out an electric arc, the battery or whatever powered it was compromised, and it was as good as dead. The A-turret on the pre-con base suffered a similar fate as a tight cluster of high velocity rounds hammered into the guns. While the armor of the turret itself remained largely intact, the barrels of the autocannons were smashed, and the rotator ring seemed to suffer a failure as the turret stopped moving to track targets.

Cobain's Hatchetman sustained a number of autocannon hits, but other than a few scattered amber warning lights, nothing seemed breached.

Sanchez's Wolverine avoided anything heavier than infantry grade weapons from Vipers and skeletrons shooting at it. Compared to the thick armor of the Wolverine, the rifles and laser carbines the infantry were shooting at it might as well have been water guns.

Stressor's Shadow Hawk avoided anything more than a few glancing hits, but Carlyle piped up. 'Seems that we've done the Federation proud. I estimate that both remaining turrets are potentially triangulating overlapping fire against us.'

Stormtrooper continued to push his Wolverine into a flanking maneuver, skirting around the edge of the base, and raking the enemy infantry with his autocannon, likely firing Anti-Personnel rounds.

Derek ignored the damage reports - fighting in close made it inevitable.  He stepped away from the dead tower and engaged his jump jets once more, looking to land directly atop the remaining gun tower.  As he flew through the air he triggered his lasers and autocannon to light up the particle beam tower. ..

Once atop, if he gets there, he will use his ax to smash off the autocannon barrels.

"Lock missiles on the last tower."  Marsha order her LAI, giving a nod of approval at it's summary. "We are some of the federations finest!" With a spray of dirt she accelerated forward at a right angle to the tower and launched three missiles, hoping they would at the very least distract the turret. As the missiles streaked away she saw Derk's mecha beginning to lift off, jump jets flaring beneath it. If her calculations were correct he could land a few second after her missiles impacted, softening up the target for his finishing blow.

If dice rolls are needed:

Switching to anti-personnel rounds, Maxine tore down line after line of infantry, before turning back to the building and smashing through a wall.
Partly to see if there was any more ants in this ant-hill, but also looking for that infernal jamming device and any form of generator or electrical conduits.

"Javier, try and see if you can locate any major power conduits in this building, or access blue prints."

Tower C was almost fully charged for a second blast when it was torn apart. Missiles tore into the armor plate, and a rain of autocannon shells ripped into the metal, and a second later 45 tons of Hatchetman crashed through the structure. The tower buckled, showering debris down on the the infantry scattering away from the disaster in progress. Cobain struggled at the controls to keep the Hatchetman upright as the decks under his mech collapsed under it's weight. Rather unexpectedly, his machine was now mired chest deep in the wreckage of the pre-con building.

'The jamming signal intensity indicates a high chance that the shroud generator is located not in this facility, but likely has been concealed in the shell of the creche center' Javier told Sanchez.

The Command forces were in disarray, and with so many of their skeletrons destroyed they were falling back. A final line of defense was being drawn up around the creche, less than a handful of power armor troopers, a single tank, and a single Ost-Strike mech, a 120 year old relic. (Pod walker type mech, light armor, same stats as a Stinger)

"Dammit Javier, you could have told me that sooner!"

She ran out of the cover of the now crumbled wall and signed to the others:

... .... .-. --- ..- -.. / --. . -. . .-. .- - --- .-. / .. -. / -.-. .-. . -.-. .... .

Then she turned towards the last remaining troops,  and held up her arm to tell them to fall in. Normally another front offensive wouldn't have seemed appealing, but they didn't have much in the way of defense and given her limited arsenal, another charge was the only available choice as far as she could tell. She loaded her smgs, with more traditional rounds this time, she hesitated for a while, waiting for the others to fall in, and for her engines to cool off a little. "For glory..." She whispered, and begun a slow approach, her guns flaring once she reached minimum range.

Jerome cursed at his sudden immobilization, but rather than spend time extracting himself from the mess, he trained his weaponry on the enemy mech and fired.

The concrete would actually shield his legs.  "Hounddog, keep an eye out for any local infantry."

He considered firing his jump jets again, but the confined area of the tower might roast him alive if he did so.

Marsha gave a thumbs up to her commanders hand signal, hoping they could locate the generator more quickly now they had a likely area to search.

With a pause she surveyed the enemies final skirmish line with a flicker of amusement. While brave, it was foolish to think they could stop their mecha with what little remained.

She keyed her mecha's external speakers, increasing the volume gain to carry the distance to the collection of  resistance. "Stand down and surrender or be destroyed, this is your only warning!"

Turning she stepped partially behind the cover of a ruined tower, lining up with her rifle and shoulder cannon on the tank, whatever move they made, she was ready to respond in kind.

The Ost-Strike raised it's autorifle, and fired a burst of 30mm rounds at Stressor's Shadow Hawk before crumpling under the onslaught of rounds from Redshirt's rebooted Wolverine and Cobain's Hatchetman. The infantry scattered and the crew of the tank bailed out of the vehicle.

A single aerospace fighter shot overhead.

It made a second pass, unloading it's full payload on the biocreche facility, turning the building into an inferno. Secondary explosions blew the structure apart from the inside, and radio communications abruptly resumed.

"Solid copy. Talon squad here. Appreciate the air-support, command. Just about to clean up here, over."

Maxine aimed for the biggest mech and fired while strafing closer, her mech tearing up the landscape with each heavy stride.

"Give em our coordinates, staff!" Maxine shouted at Marsha.

The aerospace jock hung overhead for a few seconds, a stall climb giving the pilot a chance to look around before heading back to base. A brief burst of high frequency noise across the radio band announced that the large jet moving away from them was no ordinary craft, but was rather a Seibetronian working for the military.

The fight was over, and a pair of military carry-alls were inbound to retrieve Talon Squad and deploy teams of armored infantry to secure the prisoners and inspect the ruins of the pre-con base, and to see what might remain of the shroud generator.

"Just call me Long Shot Sarge," She replied to Maxine, before keying her com to a wider frequency and radioing in their position, before switching back to the group channel "Great work everyone, stand by for aerial retrieval and RTB." (return to base)

She gave her LAI an approving nod "You did great too, honor and glory to the Federation!"

"Don't stress it, Hot Shot." Maxine said, as she lined up her mecha with the carryall super magnets to prepare pickup.
"Line up, Talon Squad. Good work today." Maxine smiled to herself. A tough nut to crack, but she'd pulled it off. She was missing a few things though, the opposition had been weak, that was the only reason they had survived that frontal assault, of that she had no doubts. Next time, she hoped to come better prepared, with better gear.... Speaking of gear.

Derek managed to free himself from the wreck of the tower with as much dignity as he could and walked his mech over to the dropships.

He was quite happy with the results himself, having personally wrecked most of an armoured unit was a good outcome.  4 Tank silhouettes and a mech would look good on his mech.

While the jammers had prevented HQ from getting a live feed of the battle, the guncams would provide lots of premium viewing for the battle.  He would have to check the unit's social media policies when he got back...

Before the Carry-alls were back at the mechadrome, the Arco San Louis news department had already received it's video junkets from the base media officer, and had compiled and generated their own various recreations (virtual and online of course) to demonstrate the awesome might of the Federation, and it's nigh unstoppable mecha. Some stories hovered over the military porn, while others were littered with anti-Amerikka Command propaganda.

Re: Social Media Policy - There is an open social media policy, the mechwarriors are intended to be local celebrities, and the arco residents are going to be interesting in their opinions on things. There are a few rules, aside from supporting the Federation and keeping the Federation line, Mechwarriors are strongly discouraged from imposing their opinions on political or policy matters. Have a favorite brew, favorite place to hang out, favorite sports team, have an opinion on the Designated Hitter, and cyborgs in contact sports, even if it is controversial, people love that.

A quick detour to the bathroom then onto the communal showers. Maxine noted with some satisfaction that there were no noticeable augmentations or gen mods in her troop. They had their own uses of course, but there's something to be said about being "just" human. Once she looked crisp in a fresh uniform, she proceeded to the meeting room where she awaited this Commander Carnahan.

Marsha followed her commanders lead, heading straight for the showers and crisp dress uniform, taking a few extra moments to ensure her skirt was properly hemmed to regulation specs and her shoes perfectly polished and all the proper medals and badges in place. It would be the first time meeting Commander Carnahan, and no doubt there would be journalist inquires and interviews to follow as the local media sought to get a profile and handle on the new arrivals that had stolen the spotlight in today morning action.

Look your best and you make the Federation look their best, leave the glory and energy drink endorsements to those with the personality and looks to make the most of it. Old words from a retired veteran pilot that had given and advanced battle tactics lecture during her days at the academy when he'd been asked about publicity. To her it seemed like sound advice, and judging by Derek's over the top take downs the press would have more interest in him than her more by the book approach, which suited her just fine.

She entered the brief room a few minutes after Maxine, giving her a quick nod as she walked past her to take the next available seat to her right. "Tricky out there today with the coms down, I'll make it a priority to see to it all our mecha have functional laser communications before our next op." She said to her quietly, "Still we pulled it off without any casualties or even serious mecha damage, not bad for our first outing."
