When the Great War began, the Scientists of Orbital Station Copernicus One were busy studying the Horsehead Nebula, and therefore were unaware of earth's devastation until one week later. Locked inside their ivory tower, they had discovered a cluster of exciting exo-planets in the Nebula and had spent several days inside the state of the art observatory, marveling at the 3D projections of the different planets. Only when they had named them all after themselves and beloved ones, did the scientists eagerly initiate contact with earth to deliver the thrilling news. Unfortunately earth had been destroyed in the meantime, so, dismayed, the scientists had no one to acknowledge their greatest discovery.

A system of apartheid was introduced some 450 years ago, separating the lesser educated from the prime citizens of the space station. 398 years ago Prima Noctis was introduced, allowing any and all scientists one night with a servant bride before any marriage. Following a rapid decline in marriages, any citizen could have any servant at whim from 150 years ago. Battling the danger of inbreeding, the Birth Regulation Law created 50 years ago state that only licensed fetuses are allowed  to be born among the servants. In a lucky turn of events, the servant engineers were able to create the sentient sexbots some 18 years ago, reducing the rape of servants from a daily occurence to none. Unfortunately, the scientists began culling the servants (through the clever use of airlocks) shortly thereafter, and only essential personell have been retained.

Recently the food supply has been running critically low and the citizens are now forced to eat the same food as the servants.
This major crisis has forced Doctor Andrew van Holst, "Master of Nanotechnology and Explorer Extraordinaire of Orion", to order the servants to perform the first earth landing since the great war 800 years ago.

Gonna need a couple of Player Characters for Copernicus One.
The easily offended, overly religious and touchy touchies are not eligible to play.

PCs will be servant class characters, and the game will start as the PCs are heading away from the Space Station. So, not much chance of being abused and insulted except in the opening scenes.

For the morally conscious and those who react poorly to the setting:
The politics have been more than mirrored throughout history: Apartheid in South Africa, Prima Noctis in the medieval ages, anyone who has spent time at universities know of the better than thou attitude among scientists.

I just concocted it all into a cocktail I found amusing. Also, the Fallout vibe can probably be felt here, mirroring the citzens of Vault City.

So... If any want to play in a space shuttle crew of engineers, soldiers and doctors landing on a post apocalyptic earth, buckle up and we will play.

You are all most welcome, I am just making protective signs to ward off evil.

I can see multiple pros and cons for checking out the smoking ruins of earth. Pros include playing a thief/pilot Han Solo type guy, being a non-arrogant, non-Melior type, and my gut says yes, while cons include too many RPs, stealing other spots, and my brain says no. So, I'll put it to the dice gods. A 1-50 will mean I'm in, a 51-100 will mean I'm out, in the spirit of this d100 RPG system.

(20:45:28) Minion: caesar193 rolls 1d100 and gets 45.

I'm in. Unless you don't want me, in which case my brain, if not my emotions, thanks you.

In my ongoing quest to try out every GM this Citadel has to offer, I would kick myself for not jumping aboard this train, despite already being in so many RPs. But contemporary/futurey characters are the hardest to come up with, and I've got nothing at this point. When will you be starting?

Also, no sex-bots??? Grr...

The Game starts soon.Within a week.
I guess the prelude will start this week, describing some background stuff.

Muro's character joins us after Isle of Woe is done, which is not far into the future.

The Characters possible starting professions are:
1 of you may be the Space Station Captain.
1 of you may be the Pietini Class Shuttle Pilot
3 of you may be Armed Guards, controlling law and order among the non-citizens inside the Space Station.
2 of you may be Medical Doctors, skilled at the healing of human flesh
4 of you may be Engineers, skilled at mechanical or scientific labor

Since you are four players, you can choose whatever you like from the list above. Once a character type is chosen, the number of available characters of that type is reduced by one.

So, if Echo choses to be an Armed Guard, the number of available armed guard slots is reduced from 3 to 2.

What you know about Earth

What the Scientists tell you
Earth was once a glorious planet ruled by multiple civilizations. You all came from Utopia, where scientists ruled in their Golden City. One day the Golden City was attacked during the Servant Rebellions, and countless scientists died. Doctor Nobel, Doctor Mandela, Doctor Gandhi, all these perished in the nuclear flames of the Servant Nations of China, USA and France.

In the end the rebellion was subdued, but at a great cost. The Servant Nations had decimated the globe, and only in their sanctuary in outer space does the scientists once again prosper and grow. But the servants must pay for their sins, their children must pay for their sins, and their childrens children must pay for their sins.

Unoffical Knowledge, whispered from parent to child:
The masters have warped and twisted history. There once was a planet, but it wasn't about servants versus scientists. That is just some bulls**t they come up with to justify their killing and raping of generations of our kin. The scientists are not to be trusted, and for all we know, Earth is a scientists free zone. Why else are we forbidden from going down there?

Odd pieces of insight gleaned from the context of certain files on the onboard computer, or from other sources:
- The language being taught at the space station is called "English", or "US English".
- Only equipment newer than 200 years old have been branded with the personal insignia of the different scientists clans.
- There are magazines hidden inside the kitchen where there is no mention of any scientist rulers whatsoever. The magazines talk about the United States of America being in conflict with China. They talk about appearances and looks, they teach sexual advice and show many images of beautiful people using items such as Chanel (some kind of smell device), Bugatti (A vehicle of some kind), and inhalation medicine called "Real Cuban Cigars". Plenty other things are found in there too, and the ancients seem to have been focused on their items. Sadly none of these have survived the war. The Space Station only has boring canned food and military supply equipment.

Ok.

You being betrayed is now evident. I am kind of hoping your loyalty to the scientists isn't all that, and that you deny them, but that is up to you.

The gunnery nest is still operational. Requires only muscle power, remember.

Mary Sue is powering down. Her Ramp won't go back up and she is now pretty much a glorified building with a gattling gun on top.

I would humbly like to apply for the rifle with the scope, for two reasons. 1) I have the worst bad luck of anyone and needs all the extra skills I can get. 2) As your only medic, it would make sense for me to stay a bit back from the action.

Gossamer: Sweet, was that enough to shut him up?
Ancient Gamer: Roll damage. You need 6 points of dam
Gossamer: Hah, right on the money (15:54:54) Minion: Gossamer rolls 1d10 and gets 6. And +2 even.

WARNING!
Equipment list is being transfered to char sheets thread for your new Earth Shelter (being formed by the friends you just found in your cargo)

If you want to take some of the equipment, state doing so, and it won't be added to the Shelter post. Remember, you can always come back to the shelter and trade with your friends. Their items are your items and your items are their items. You have a small post-apocalyptical tribe of very thankful, but utterly lost, friends now.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
The game is being fast forwarded. The next couple of things that will happen are routine actions, not worthy of precious PbP game time.
I will fast forward one day, to dinnertime next day. The following things will have happened by then:
  • Katherine has tended her wound, and the bullet has been removed. She is still hurt (no HP regained), but the danger of bleeding out and infection is more or less gone
  • The cryosleep coffins have been opened and party members reunited with family members (Katherine), and friends (everyone).
  • Angus has had his roll in the sack with Wionna
  • The rescued friends have set up camp in the building to the right of the space-ship. They have also taken all the Colt .38 caliber guns you just found, along with 12 x .38 caliber bullets for each gun. Your friends need security, and they take shifts patrolling the building.
  • Basically this area will function as your adventuring base camp from now on. The Mary Sue isn't big enough to be a comfortable home for the lot of you, though you can bring everyone aboard for transportation. Not enough seats though, but some can be put in the cryosleep coffins I guess...
  • Everyone will have eaten food scavenged from the cars and from Mary Sue. Basically food and water is an issue right now. You have some firepower, basic transportation, but Mary Sue is offline and her right engine in need of repair
  • Wionna has begun looking into the engine problem. She is an excellent mechanic.
  • Uncle Frank is so grateful for what his niece, Katherine, has done (saved them and restored them from Cryosleep). He is a good cook, but also skilled at crafting items out of metal, and now he is proudly working on a gift to say thank you to the heroic five, as you are now being called
  • Mortimer is being indulged by the newcomers, who understand Angus was frustrated, but think he went a little too far. He has gotten more than his fair share of the food being cooked, and the newcomers are trying to cheer him up, even though he has always been the odd one out
  • A sense of fear for, and disgust towards, the scientists has begun to grow. People are feeling betrayed, and stories about loved ones that disappeared have begun emerging.
  • Angus has disabled the long range comm device in the Mary Sue. This to prevent the Scientists from radioing new orders to Mary Sue
  • Angus and Mortimer failed to reprogram / hack the Mary Sue.

There will a new entry in character creation from me: Each of the surviving friends, and all of their abilities

Checks for hacking into Mary Sue and restoring operationability: (Both computer guys in the party failed... You need to either increase your skill, at which time you can try again, or you need to find some other way to get her operational.)
(21:12:07) Minion: Ancient_Gamer rolls 1d100 and gets 95.
(21:12:13) Minion: Ancient_Gamer rolls 1d100 and gets 87.

Now for the rest of the equipment:

Red Wrangler Jeep:
40 liters of gasoline
4 x bedroll - military green
4 x Military water canteen, full of pure water

Doorless dented Black Hummer H1-Retro 2097:
Batterypowered - 100 Kilometers left
4 x bedroll - military green
4 x Military water canteen, full of pure water
1 x Onboard Car Computer - Sophisticated (All computer skill usages possible on it + maps + GPS not working (satellites destroyed)

Rusted Sedan of unknown type.
1 x Mini-nuclear reactor powering the car!!!!!!!
5 x holes in the floor of the car - Watch your legs!!!
NB: The Rusted Sedan can drive endlessly, so long as the reactor is stabile. The reactor is the only thing in the car that is in good condition, but moving it would require facilities and equipment you do not possess.

Scania V8 2077
Batterypowered - 1200 Kilometers left
3 x plastic laminated porn magazines from 1978, 2074 and 2109. The mags are very graphic, and also gives a historic insight into the everchanging preferences of the ancients. The 2109 mag is interactive, and reacts to touch, thought and sexual excitement. All it needs is skin contact.
9 x bottles of Smirnoff Vodka
2 x bottles of Lagavulin Single Malt

Black Landrover
20 litres of gasoline

Loot:
1 x Rifle (2d6+4 damage)
1 x Scope (currently attached to sniper rifle) (+25 skill points on small guns when scope is in use)
3 x Colt .38 CLAIMED BY REVIVED FRIENDS
1 x Beretta 9mm
1 x Double barrel 12 gauge shotgun
1 x Semi-Trailer, good condition
1 x Rusted Sedan, bad condition
1 x Hummer, dented and missing doors
1 x Landrover, good condition
1 x Red Wrangler Jeep, Mint condition

For the record, Angus killed the sniper before the sniper shot, before Katherine shot twice and wasted a fate point, and before Katherine got bloodied. Sniper was dead before any of that happened.

Kathy spent the fate point on skill increase.
Also his shot was q bleeder,  and the sniper would still have gotten off her shot.

Guys, I need direction.

The week of rest, reunion, exploration and interrogation has ended.

What to do now?

What does the quintet intend to do now?

Repair the Mary Sue and flee?
Dig in and carve out a piece of land, then defend?
Attack the Baron of Rembrandtplein?

Or do you have some other piece of action in mind?

Captain Phil has said that him and Angus (in the Stavros Exoskeleton) will play the part of a demolition crew, bringing down the building on the other side of the tunnel, plus removing the cars and buses that provide cover for incoming enemies. So I guess he intends to make your position more defensible.

Any more input?

Oh....

Everyone is granted a +10 skill points safe landing award to be distributed where you want.

Also, in 5 minutes the fate points will have been upgraded to what they currently are.

Well, I wanted this place to be more defensible, since we might not want to leave the ship.

My take would be to get the Mary sue working, and deal with the Baron.

Then deal with the scientists in due time.
