After seeing the globular beasts explode with such force, Kismet was less than inclined to stand toe to toe with them, and picked up her longbow instead, dispatching two arrows towards the swarm approaching Lumori while they still were away.
"Head back, slam the door!" she shouted; there was no need to have foes to their flank - or a devoured brigand.
One hit, 4 damage.

Somnak hammered on his drums with maniacal fervor, feet stomping on the ground and a gutteral chant coming from his lips.
within his head the spirits roared; they sought to be set free! The intensity within his head increases, like a balloon filling with too much air. Somnak had never felt such a pressure before; his ancestors clawed to get out. Finally, the dam burst: Somnak raised both his hands and slammed them down on the skin of his drum as hard as he could. As he did, a massive, reverberant *Thummm* echoed out. A misty white shockwave shot out in a disc with incredible speed from the drum, followed a half a second later by cacophonic scream of a thousand lost souls. The sound was ear-splitting and mind-boggling, although the worst of the noise was dampened for the Half-orc's allies.
Sonic Screech. Foes must save or lose their next action.

The dark priestess raised her symbol as the weapon was pointed at her, a scowl striking her face.  "Burning rage within, make your mark and sear the flesh!" That weapon... Brin didn't like the looks of it, but it was easy enough to make it bite back against the enemy... whatever it was... Or so she hoped. The undead jelly had been struck down quickly, too quickly, and it was well worth it to make sure that it couldn't hurt them.

"DIIIIIIE!!!!"

Fighting of the ants, Bob took off at a run towards the half dressed tramp that had dared to sick ants on him in his home.  Screaming profanities he felt the flamethrower in his hands start to get warm before he was stopped in his tracks by the concussive force of the murderous Orc.  His last thoughts as the flamethrower started scalding flesh were Only halfway there, d**n...

all around the mulberry bush the monkey chased the weasel. The monkey thought it was all in fun, pop goes the flamethrower...
They were immediately and absolutely recognizable as adventurers... They were hardy and dangerous, lawless, stripped of allegiance or morality, living off their wits, stealing and killing, hiring themselves out to whoever and whatever came. They were inspired by dubious virtues.  China Mieville - Perdido Street Station

Lumori was suddenly faced by four red blubber globes rather than five due to the Lumina's quick shot, but another exploded gorbel near him, resulted in...(ooc: 2 points of damage. 7 total to Lumori now.)

(ooc: Lumori gets action/attack, then gorbels swarm him)

----------

The napalm cartridge inside Bob's flamethrower began to near the point of no return, as Bob stood there paralyzed by Somnak's piercing screech. The ants now freely munched on his hairy legs, he could not even fight them off! Nor could he drop the flamethrower as it melted his flesh gluing him to the metal. A trickle of blood poured down his ear, as he stood there helplessly. (ooc: the flamethrower is going to BLOW in 1 round)

Realizing the newly arrived scout was in trouble, Ardhalas threw himself into the chamber that Lumori had entered. He was greeted by a maddening sight, as the balls of eyes and insanity threw themselves at the thief, determined to chew him to pieces.

"Not on my watch", the Elf screamed in Imperial Elven, raining arrows at the balls of horror as he did so. His speed played a trick on him though, and he missed twice as he slid sideways into the chamber.

Lumori

*pop!**pop!**pop!*

The sound of bursting Gorbels was distracting, to say the least. So was the caustic goo that sprayed over him from the orbs his allies so helpfully were killing while he stood nearby. If it wasn't one thing, it was another.

The screaming elf charged into the room with him, and Lumori decided that this would be an excellent time for him to use his bow. Drawing it off his shoulder, he quickly loosed an arrow at the gorbel farthest from him. Hopefully the nasty stuff wouldn't spray on him from this distance.

Lumori popped one of the gorbels with his shaft, but the farthest gorbel from him was nearer to Ardhalas at that moment, causing the Haulor...(ooc: 1 point of dam) This one made a sound akin to a gurgling burp in lieu of a proper explosion. A dud.

The remaining three burbling rubber balls dove, flopped and jumped at Lumori like demonic red toads, eager to sup on his flesh, albeit with little bites at a time.(ooc: Murometz rolls 3d20 and gets 20,18,13.) The first gorbel somehow landed in its favorite sweet spot, the nape of the neck, and it sank its fish-toothed nasty maw deep into meat of the thief's neck. (ooc: 3+2, 5 dam). The second gorbel bit his thigh precariously close to his nethers, and began to chomp away greedily (ooc: 2 dam. that's 14 dam total to Lumori *danger* *danger*. Next round they hit Lumori "automatically" doing 1-6 each.)

The third gorbel flew right past Lumori, smashing itself against a wall, then ricocheting back in position like an actual rubber ball.

(ooc: everyone can attack/act as they wish, including poor Lumori, but not Thorgir, who is temporarily occupied...)

Thorgir peeled off a good deal of Bob's bubbling flesh along with the metallic device, he now wrenched free, and hurled. The explosion sounded moments later, tossing the mighty Thorgir back five feet with ease from the force. (ooc: 2 dam from grabbing heated flamethrower, 6 from blast, though no napalm stickies.)

A rumbling sound, like ominous thunder sounded seconds after the main blast, and echoed throughout the fire-ravaged halls.

"I told you to get out of there!" Kismet grabbed onto Lumori, kicking away the ball chewing his flesh near his own, and poking the other in the eye to let go.
Rolled a 10, sufficient to hit AC 4 with a melee attack. Prompt me to edit if this doesn't work.
As the gorbels bounced off him, Lumori found himself propelled into a somersault, trailing drops of blood as he flew, but free at last.
The rogue would roll down the hall unharmed, of that the Lumina was sure - and Ardhalas had a free field of fire at the discombobulated beasts.

Meleana drew her bow and notched an arrow, training it against the madman she let it fly.

I dunno if I get two attacks as well? Being elf and all. (Longbow)

Were those exploding ball things still a problem? Thought Melior. No matter, one hail of magic missiles would take care of them.

He was about to cast it when he paused to consider the explosive radius of the ball things. But then he came to the realization (well, old one, but still!) that he was the only person that truly mattered on the party, no matter how much his respect was growing for the rest. Well, growing is of course a relative term- doubling 0 still gets you zero.

He fired off a salvo of three missiles, each destined for a different ball.

damage:

(11:34:15) Minion: caesar193 rolls 1d4 and gets 1. So 2
(11:34:22) Minion: caesar193 rolls 1d4 and gets 2. So 3
Melior doesn't care which missile goes to which ball, so factor that into your devious GM mind!

Squish, went the gorbel's eye as the Lumina poked it. It garbled something incoherent at the Lumina and let go of Lumori, then attempted to beat a hasty retreat, but for naught, it was shot down by one or more of the party's archers. The other gorbel, she kicked with such force off of Lumori that the red ball actually exploded against a wall harmlessly. Must have been a sharp nook or cranny.

The chaos ended rather abruptly.

Meleana's arrow pierced Bob's nipple, and sank into his heart. Bob died, though he remained standing frozen several moments before face-planting in the corridor.

Melior's missiles made quick work of the remaining red-globe malcontents, though the creatures' explosion did do (ooc: 2 dam to Ardhalas, 3 to Kismet, and 1 managed to explode far enough away from anyone in the room.)

There was quite a big mess, but no adversaries left for the moment. Another gorbel explosion sounded suddenly, and everyone looked about, but it seemed that this one came from the "Teleportation Chamber" next door.

The "Activity Room" meanwhile, was an otherwise sterile obstacle course of weird objects. The room was huge and somewhat elliptical in shape. Many mysterious contraptions and metallic gadgets and devices, lined the walls and contours of the room. A series of weird "magical glyphs and messages" revealed to Thorgir such strange plaques as, "exercise cycle", "virtual track", "weight-lifting station", and even a small rectangular glass screen in a wall at eye level, which stated "energy boosts". Behind the glass sat a row of glass vials.

Another strange metallic construct that mildly resembled a humanoid figure, stood in a corner unmoving. For arms, it had gleaming scythes, and its legs featured wheel-like constructs. The body was somewhat rectangular, and its "head" was simply a squarish afterthought in its creation. Some sort of primitive golem? It was labeled "battle-bot".

All was quiet as the companions took stock of the situation and recuperated from injury.

Then another crashing sound, as they realized the far-hall with the ninety-degree turn from where Bob and his Red Army had emerged, had collapsed in on itself. It suddenly seemed to the companions that their options on where to "go" next, were limited now.

Ardhalas walked around the alien chamber, asking Thorgir what the different plaques meant. Pausing at the "Boosts" section, he decided he wanted to know what was in those glass vials.  The Elf focused deeply on the glass vials, then gently asked Thorgir if he would fetch him the wizard's staff of power.

Then he started chanting in High Elven

Thorgir looked at Ardhalas, then  his singed fingers and finally the 'taser'. He shook his head no.  He was not interested in touching another of those infernal things.

Despite Thorgir's reluctance at touching artefacts of perverse, sorcery-ridden evil, Ardhalas manages to identify the vials and "staff". (ooc: the staff is a laser pistol that functions thusly. 1/att/round, 1-10 dam, unless, a 10 is rolled, in which case another 1d10 is rolled, and so on, for potentially unlimited damage :P The vials are all labeled and seem to be, in effect, potions of "Heroism", "Alertness" (as per mu spell), "Giant Strength"--frost giant--, "Extra-Healing" (3-24 healed), and "Speed")

Hearing the words; holy staff, Meleana became interested. Perhaps this staff was once wielded by the Hierophant, at any rate she wanted it. She picked it up and waited to see if anyone would challenge her over it. It looked really strange, more metal than anything a druid would normally wield, it didn't even feel magical strangely enough, but the powerful red beam that shot out with the press of a button more than made up for any discomfort she may feel from wielding something so unnatural.

There were, despite the interesting room, things to be taken care of. Gathering Lumori and Thorgir to herself, the priestess dipped into her phial of moss-essence, carefully daubing the wounds with a thinned bit of the numbing fluid. As always, the dose would make the toxin, and here, it would be closer to medicine. Binding the wounds, she then spoke the prayers of dark healing, letting the flames from her burning well of rage course their way into the men's flesh, searing away injury...

And then, looking more fully about the room, she began to frown. This sorcery they were using was... strange to her eyes. It seemed to run on something else entirely, and she was concerned about its existence.

She had not kicked the gorbels far enough - truth be said, she had always been better at bofferball than at kickball. Bofferball consisted of boffing people with the boff, then kicking or picking up the ball while they were reeling. The boff was a huge padded leather hammer on a long handle, to be clear.
As a consequence of this, the gorbel exploded in her face.

Stoically, she again asked Mother to refresh her, and could feel her wounded flesh melting to goo, to reshape itself in its pristine state again.
7 HP restored; I am full.

Then, she fell in with the others again, eying the careless wizard though. She knew his kind, singing the footmen with his careless sorcery, heedless in the application of his magic, believing himself above other men. Truth was, they were usually elevated above other men indeed, by the virtue of the noose.
She smiled, and made a few experimental swings with the new-found blade. It sang a song calming to her ears.
