I figured that's the room we're in right now.

There was no prison cell as such. The Right tunnel led directly into the room where the two were chained. There was a door in the room (which unleashed the arrow when Auxzali opened it) which led to the final room you're in now.

And I didn't know you could try and intercede an action when the hitpoints had already been tallied and all that, but that's good to know for future reference, the next time someone stabs someone or opens trapped doors.  :P

This is the disconnect between posting times and game rules.  I always have a hard time with reconciling keeping things going while still allowing people to act.

Ideally, you post your intent. everyone else does as well, GM adjudicates the results and posts the final scene.   These pauses slow down the action somewhat, but where critical they should probably occur.

I'm not quite sure how the balancing act should occur, but I think the posters who wanted to intercede in the execution should post as if they are still in that timeframe. Since they posted their reaction to the 'completed' event as opposed to the in-progress event, my character - who would have done nothing to stop the execution for her own reasons - sees them as having stood by and then complained after the fact - looking like hippocrates.

But, to be constructive, I prefer to work on a "yes, and" principle. Meaning, I don't force X people to edit their posts just to bring my action in.
Instead, I imaged the scene as 'Wormtongue jumping Saruman and stabbing the feck out of him before anyone could react'.

I do not want retroactively to force people to redo their actions; instead, I am acting as if completely surprised, because honestly I did not expect Ol' Fugly to do a Mr. Jack on Sleepy.

True, but if the act seriously messes things up, like a paladins alignment, then you should not be penalized for sleeping...

I have to say I agree with both of you, I wouldn't want to come and say hold on, go back three posts, I'm canceling the action. But on the other hand, if everyone charges ahead with their own agenda without checking previous posts and/or not caring where it puts everyone else, that's not so great either. Once something like this happens, I'm inclined to have let it happen, but it would be nice if everyone tried to leave it a bit open ended, so those of us from a different time zone is given a chance to react. I know I'll try to heed that at least.  :drink: Oh and I'm not so much following alignment as I am his personality and my idea of his cultural values.

I'd go back at most 1 post per person - each person _should_ have an opportunity to react to the scene if they are able.

And I didn't realize my spelling was so off.  Hypocrite.  I've never heard anyone in my region say 'Hypo-crite', always 'Hippo-crite'.  For someone who tends to pick at spelling errors, I am somewhat a - hypocrite. :)

Anyway, now we have one of those wonderful Alignment/ethic conflict scenes :) He _did_ say he was going to cut his spleen out and wear it like a hat :)

Hah, that was not a turn of phrase and trash talk?
As far as I know, we talk more often about killing someone than actually doing so. Especially we, disarmed peaceful EU citizens.

So, my most constructive suggestion: avoid writing posts in the direction of "I plow your behind like a freeman does his field, and you like it, and then you feel guilty because paladins are not allowed to be gay."  :P

Alright, before I post, what did I miss; other than revulsion at Duxo's actions?  I'm only asking because this sounds like a fight over whether you all stop Duxo from killing the guy or not.

Before we go any further in that here are my entirely nonpragmatic and in-character reasons:
A) Kidnapping, assualt and highway robbery are crimes that would be punished by death in most civilized realms
B) They put Duxo in chains, which may not seem like much; but he is Hyparican.  For him that's worse than any other thing you could do.  Throwing him down the pit of an outhouse would be less insulting.
C) With that in mind, the Sen-Rabbian punishment for almost any crime is to be put into slavery, and while the post detailing that isn't entirely clear I'm going to assume the lesser of two evils and say that any children they have after they're enslaved are slaves too.  With Duxo's cultural view on slavery and chains do you really think he's just going to hand someone over to that?

Ah ha! We have approached a conundrum unique to forum games!

I think the answer is that i am at fault. My post after Pariah's confirmed that such a thing had occurred; if i had held out sufficiently, there would have been more time for discussion. My desires to plough the game forward has denied the rest of you your opinion!

so, i think what i must do is impose a rule on myself! From now on, i cannot post my next move, or results of your actions, until everyone else has posted and had a chance to act.
When you post, post your intentions (and roll your dice if you wish/if necessary) and once everyone has had a chance to react, i'll post the results.

There will be exceptions to this rule - mostly in the case that someone has not posted for a couple of days. But generally this is how i will do it from now.

So even if you have nothing significant to add to a situation, everyone should at least post that you're standing there picking your nose, so i can continue.

As for the current situation; yes, what's done is done. We shall just say Duxo's intentions weren't fully clear until it was too late to stop him :D

Lets not argue amongst one another - there is nothing that cannot be resolved through discussion! :D

Sure :)
Basically, if I don't post for a day or two, it's my own fault, it's not like I am even allowed to go anywhere without my laptop and internet connection.

Pariah:
Sure, the robber would hang as sure as the sun rises the next morn. But a little questioning would be nice, for knowledge is power.
Also, there will be times when matters are less clear-cut, and my character would prefer at least some consensus on murder outside of combat.

RP-wise, it's nice and sound and I (the player) like what you did there.

Uh-oh, bad move, Pariah. If that was an insult, you should know Zelas speaks rabble and there's a reason the saying goes; Don't bully the glass man.  :mace: In fact, that's a question right there, what was the insult, how severe?

does this sound acceptable to all?

As for out of game discussion, that sounds great SE. It was very sudden is all and I don't hold you at fault, Pariah, for following your character's motivation, as I do the same, which you will come to notice now, when you seemingly insulted a Ouzquin Dremorix.  :bat: But now that we have established the rules, hopefully this won't be a problem again. On to more fun things!  :D

Alright, drama should be over now.  Where I'm at this room is about to be stripped of everything but the wine and then we're off to the left tunnel.  So unless anyone disagrees, a list of loot and on we go :D

Duxo will share this officially at a later date, but in the meantime...

Quote
A high perception roll has granted you sight of the two hidden guards, and an ear in the conversation of the two other guards.

"...Can't believe he sent that girl away! She had some fire to her!"

"She was a real looker, huh? I would've done some nasty stuff to her if Korkarr wasn't so d**n possessive!"

"Yeah. But it was like she was the one that was in control; never seen a prisoner make so many demands."

"That's just how they are east of the swamp, i'm told. Godd**n knights always expect to be obeyed. Still; Korkarr's the boss. If he wants to send her away, so be it!"

"But to Ruk-Ko-La!? Why go through the trouble of sending her all the way to Esgoloth? Seems like a lot of trouble just to share a woman around..."
The two guards turn away, their voices now too muffled for any further listening.

You can post this conversation in OOC if you wish, but if you don't talk about it in character, the others 'ain't heard it
