I believe that with that much content, it has exceeded the allowances of a "book" and qualifies for the label "tome".

Though if anyone on this site is capable of single-handedly writing a tome, it would be Scras.  The outline itself could use a little formatting for clarity -- it's kind of hard to parse as is, since the varying sections are not clearly deliminated.  If you're looking for comments on the organization of the information, that would make it a lot easier for us.  The content headings themselves look sound, though.  Can't remember anything in particular you left out (except perhaps your one-page note on "writing for the cosmic era").

Androids, Gynoids and Mechanoids

First generation 'droids are the Autons

These primitive droids do much of the heavy lifting raising the world out of the Second Dark Age, and into the Second Renaissance. They are eventually phased out, as their low end design leaves much to be desired, and the population begins to recover from the population contraction.

The Auton passes on it's 'genes' to the mass produced Police issue Wojeks. The law enforcement droids benefit from the faceless design of the Autons, but are stylized to be impersonal and intimidating.

The Skeletron and other minimalist combat robots also trace lineage back to the Auton. While more advanced than the Auton, they are effectively no different. Minimal design, mass produced.

The artificial blank nature of the auton is not desirable in units for more personal relations with humans. Humans are accustomed to nuances of facial expression, vocal inflection, and body language, and the machines that interact on this level have to not just be humanoid, but very lifelike. The almost lifelike, or wax-face, rubber skin droids fall into the uncanny valley and are poorly received. Thus, the normal business level L Type Gynoid (aka Flo) and the sex bot Hitome Unit both grew from the need for lifelike robots, albeit for different reasons.

From this basic pattern, there are going to be varieties of androids, and gynoids manufactured in varying numbers for varying purposes.
